Software developers are not welcome on Ebay... Good-bye..

So, it seems that software developers cannot sell their software on eBay anymore.. Even if I list item as a software on a physical media delivered by land post.. Before pandemic it was possible to sell as a download too. Now they imposed a 7-day ban on my acc, so my items not visible. Because I tried to sell software on a CD \ DVD \ Flash drive (therefore, not downloadable items). But it seems it is a violation too. We CANNOT sell ANY digital goods on eBay anymore, be it a on a physical media or not.. That being said, I still see many sellers selling digital goods on eBay. I asked eBay support why it is like that, they told me that all these users are violating eBay rules and would have their listings deleted as soon as eBay system will detect tat they sell digital goods..

Now eBay makes no use for me.. Will have to create my own marketplace accepting BTC and other e-cash, as this whole story with eBay and PayPal taught me a lot. Although I can still sell on Amazon, I know that all these "middlemen" are greedy and unreliable partners. After a long (more than 20 yrs) cooperation, bye eBay!  Thanks for all items (504) you let me sell here and make some little money.. RIP

You were selling "Software" that claimed to make 400 percent daily investment returns.

If that worked then you would have no reason to sell anything on ebay.

You are really going to create your own marketplace to sell 1 tradebot per month?

Check in and let us know how it goes.

Intangible items weren’t allowed to be sold before the pandemic, eBay has just been cracking down since digital items have become more popular.

eBay's policy on digitally delivered items pre-dates the pandemic. The fact that you were able to violate that policy does not mean it was allowed.

Many software developers sell software here. But for a very long time, eBay's user agreement has reserve the right to remove any listing at any time by any seller for any reason.

If you were selling get-rich-quick investment software suggesting 400% daily returns, it sounds like eBay has simply decided that you cannot sell your software here.

Re: Software developers are not welcome on Ebay... Good-bye..

I was not selling only FX trade robots, but also a cheapest VPS service in the world, helping many poor Africa - based traders to  have their robots running 24/7/365. As to 400 or 4000% - that's what that trade logic showed me in tester and I was selling it as it is, as a prefab or code idea. I never promised someone can get those 400% for my 12$ price.. Also I was selling musical software - VST plugins, sound recorders, kaleidoscope etc..  And now I create a unique drum sampler VST / standalone app, and was hoping to sell it here.. Will have to sell it on KVR Audio now.. Which requires creating my own website.

As to selling 1 trade robot / month - this is not my primary interest and code is old.  There was a time when I woke up in early morning from repeated cash machine sound from ebay app - someone in Japan have instantly bought 5 trade robots in succession, which then had a price of 108$ each..  And it was my greatest deal on eBay ever.

When I get my listing removed there is a message in my email box, saying this:

Listings that don't follow this policy in the future will result in similar actions, including a 10-day restriction on your account.  This determination was made by a customer service agent. This came to our attention because of a user report.

Why we have this policy

This policy protects buyers from purchasing unauthorized digital items.

So it seems some competitor user just snitches on me to eBay on a regular basis.

And how they do it? Do they fear that eBay will remove their items and after repeated breach of rules get banned? And what am I supposed to do? What is bad about selling audio \ visual and trading software? I had a great plans of selling on eBay, writing and selling my e-books, music, sounds, 3D models, etc, concentrating on creativity, thinking that the problem of finding best marketplace where to sell my work is solved for good.  I was even going to sell them on physical media, ridiculously.. Just to please the eBay, not my buyer..

Re: Software developers are not welcome on Ebay... Good-bye..

Some of my adversaries (an unhappy customer or a competitor) seem to regularly report me to eBay. As a result, my listings are immediately closed. The culture of reporting is very prevalent there - when I talked to customer support and asked why other sellers are allowed to sell programs while I am not, the support agent assured me that they would soon be banned too and suggested that I report them to the eBay administration, which I naturally did not do.

Others have already covered the policy with regards to digital items but with regards to software on media you are in Azerbaijan do you actually hold the copyright on the software you are selling a lot of which appears to be FOREX products and services which was acquired by NextPointHost, a UK based company, in 2010.

I am actually surprised you are still able to sell the product/service on Amazon but it may only be a matter of time before they catch-on as well.

What? Are you saying that I am a thief and selling someone else's code? Please provide proofs with links of your information. From my side, I can provide ALL SOURCE CODE of any of my app. While you cannot. I'm shocked literally. I thought I talk here with honest people. It seems that's not the case..

And live not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Russia / Moscow.

For your information - what I sold here or on Amazon or other marketplaces - was just a test and I never accounted for this tiny profits seriously. Being inspired by Alex Tew, I always plan to get much bigger exhaust of my efforts. Say 1 million $ in a decade. So I don't have to hurry and disperse myself, accumulating tiny profits throughout all my life. That's boresome. Also, seeing all the drawbacks of eBay and PayPal I'm planning to create my own marketplace and e-currency where all these bad features are eliminated and all good features from all best marketplaces implemented.

You may be selling a completely legitimate and safe product.  Personally, I would never purchase it.

When I see terms like "Forex VPS services," a chill runs up and down my spine.

For the simple reason that I am a little reluctant to jeopardize my financial security -- which is eminently possible with malicious software code buried in an otherwise seemingly respectable product.

As for BTC...  don't get me started on make-believe "money."  😆

Why you were banned from selling is another question, and when I read posts such as yours, I cannot but help believe that there is more to the story.

regards

Hello Italy! We have many in common, you are temperamental like we are) Maybe, because live on the same latitude under the Sun.. You may believe or not, but I do have many ideas worth of millions. I used to write them down in a text file through the years. Many of people even have no idea on HOW can this be achieved legally. As to your fear of my VPS service - I do not offer it to those who can afford 20$ / month for a Windows VPS.  People mainly use this for testing purposes or from poor countries. From my side I do not get much from it. Rather, I use it to master my Unix programming and understanding.

I never accused you of being a thief I just asked a simple question. Most software companies have licensed distributors for their products and services. I was simply asking if you were one of those or if you actually held the copyright on the software products you were selling. I have been to Baku as well as Moscow and I could often acquire pirated software in the local markets before it was even available in the US.

As for your entrepreneurial efforts I wish you nothing but the best of luck with your marketplace and financial processing services the later of which will require some deep pockets or some serious investors.

You live in Russia?  If you've ever logged in from a Russian IP, I can see that might have been a reason they would shut you down too.  eBay is not allowing Russian sellers or buyers to use the site still, I believe, due to the ongoing conflict.

Re: Software developers are not welcome on Ebay... Good-bye..

I was banned for 3 days because of my extremely 'bad language of Truth' here. Sorry eBay, didn't mean to hurt your tender nerves and check freedomness of freedom of speech in the US.

I live in many places and I'm not the citizen of Russia, although I think ordinary people from Russia should not suffer from politics. Remember how many talented  Russian - originated folks created such services as PayPal, Google (A. Brin & others).

Anyway, thanks eBay for urging me being not a 'lazy eBay user' and to create and maintain my own websites & services. From now on I will sell here only real oil paintings of my father artist Chingiz Azizov - Van Gogh of our times and me. Will make a price tag from 100 000$ and higher. So it will payoff for delivery costs.
