Sneakers

I get it!!! You pay for a pair of sneakers , you want the real deal. I sell restore shoes! Not new , but not worn out!
Now my eBay fees will make it impossible for me to make any money. How do I  sell my $15 pair of sneakers and the buyers has to pay $14.95 shipping?
so what am I missing?

Re: Sneakers

Don't understand your post. There have always been eBay fees. How did you make money before? Tough to make money on a $15 item, but it can be done.

Re: Sneakers

Not everything is suitable for mail order.

Low cost/value items are only worth selling online if they can be shipped cheaply.

Bulky and heavy items cost more to ship.

You might be able to sell your sneakers most easily by using Free Shipping.

DON'T PANIC!

Free Shipping is a marketing term meaning you have included the cost of shipping in the asking price.

Since I assume your customer is bargain hunting which would he prefer?
A $15 shoe with $15 shipping or a $30 shoe with Free Shipping?

Re: Sneakers

The online postage cost to ship a 2-pound package via Priority Mail costs $8.02 - $12.66 (depending on distance) and the cost for 3 pounds is $8.24 - $17.74.  So I'm not sure where you're seeing $14.95; that would be the retail price to ship 4 pounds to Zone 5 (online cost would be $11.54).

Re: Sneakers

I do not know what "restore shoes" are, but I suppose that doesn't really matter.  The fact is that it is worse than pointless to offer anything for sale on which you cannot make money.  So, if you cannot make a reasonable profit on restore shoes, donate the ones you currently have and do not acquire any more for resale.  Devote your resources to goods that are worth your while to sell.

Re: Sneakers

Are you talking about the $14.95 shipping fee that buyers will pay now to send for authentication? Your shoes dont seem to fit that category.

Re: Sneakers

I think the way that recent post read, your shoes have to sell for $100 (or $150, can't quite recall) to fall into the authentication process and require the $15 shipping charge for buyers.

Re: Sneakers

its best to do a person to person sale when possible.  if you cant find a local buyer, then you use ebay.  sometimes i lose $50 off sale using middle men platforms.    i'll pay 240 for shoe and sell it for 290, and the platform taxes me off the full 290 not just the 40 profit.  but i do understand the platform doesnt know how much i paid for the shoe.  but as i said, the best sale is person to person.

Re: Sneakers

Pretty sure that that it is brand driven too. So even if the shoes fall under a price point they might still go through the authentication process.

Re: Sneakers

Original post from 09/20/22.  OP still has some listings currently.  No sneakers though.

Re: Sneakers

Ironic how you start your post with "I get it!!!"

Because I have no idea what you're talking about.

Sell items you can make a profit on

Does not sound like what your selling is worth your time

Good Luck

Selling anything on eBay with a 17% Gross Margin is a money losing proposition, even with no fees it's would still be barely worth the effort.
