Show the sellers that are for this GTC policy.

Why don't I see anyone that is happy or behind this new GTC policy . All I see is removal of anything that should be taken in account when deciding on this new policy. Stop this so I can control my store. I pay for it every month. I do not want to be charged for something I don't want to be charged for. The new policy even contradicts your own policy. SHow these sellers that want GTC....if there really are any....

The rational is that because the listing is on the internet longer, it is more likely to show up in Google search results ... which should give it more visibility outside of eBay ... which should generate more sales.

Ah okay, well I do have to agree with that since in all my experiences over the years, I've had celebrities find things on Google of themselves which led them to ebay.

I did not think of that.  I better get my eBay account in to my trust ASAP.  Who knows my items may be worth more when I am dead Smiley Surprised

Re: Show the sellers that are for this GTC policy.

Well let's be clear, these buyers (whether celebrities or not lol) all found mine on Google when listed on the 30 day feature.

GTS will just make the links on Google last longer to where they expired then new ones appearing a few days later.

It really does nothing to help sales one way or another.

Well, since I never saw any of my items on Google doing 30 day FP and now I am seeing them start to show up, I think I will just have to be of the wait and see opinion.

Re: Show the sellers that are for this GTC policy.

There is nothing to prevent you (seller) from reviewing your listings from time to time, to see which ones are getting few or no views.  You do not have to wait til they expire, or automatically renew, to do this....

You can reduce the prices on these -- or cancel them -- any time.  IMHO

When a 30 day listing is automatically re-listed, it goes to the top of the "Newly Listed" search.  I have seen mine do so.

Word is that with GTC that will not happen because it retains the original listing #.

Re: Show the sellers that are for this GTC policy.

I check Newly Listed and have often seen my GTC
listings near the top of the first page of Newly Listed.
Do you ever list GTC? If so have you looked ?.

I'm still waiting for ebay to tell us how it helps our sales as they're promoting the decision.  I can make a list of how it hurts sales with the main two being:

1. Buyers no longer feel pressured to buy the item within 30 days and now can wait months before buying it ... if ever.

2. Buyers will now see your item at the very bottom of their Searches ... if they even reach that far down when looking.

That definitely does not help sales.

GTC listing come up in the ending soonest just as 30 day fixed price listings.

When looking at the count down time on a GTC listing it shows the time left (days, hours)just as a 30 day fixed price listing does. I have verified this by looking at my listing while logged out.

Like another poster mentioned, I got tired of having to relist items every 30 days.

With GTC, you can spend more time listing, then relisting.

If your items go unseen by many potential buyers, then what's the point in being here?  You're only currently selling a percentage of what you should be selling.

Viewers are not a problem, just takes time to find the right buyers.

You can have a million people look at your listing every day, but if it's not what they are looking for, they are not going to buy.

Have a great day.

I have only ever listed Good Til Cancelled! I like it because I don't have to constantly babysit my store. I have never had a problem with GTC listings.....

Re: Show the sellers that are for this GTC policy.

buyselljack --
I just looked at one of my GTC listings and I see it says there is 1 hour plus some minutes to go. This listing will renew automatically as GTC if h no one buys it in this hour+, but the listing does not tell buyers this is the case.
Has anyone else seen their GTC listing come up as Newly Listed, after a 30 day listing cycle finishes and a new 30 day listing cycle for the item begins?
I do like the way the number of watchers -- the public/buyers see this -- keeps accumulating. Some of my listings have over 10 watchers, and this is probably a spur to those really interested.

People keep touting the "sense of urgency" as being a bonus to sales and I honestly don't understand that because, from my experience working in B&M stores, those are EXACTLY the buyers who come back to return the item the next week with the explanation "I had second thoughts and changed my mind."

I don't want to attract that kind of buyer.  I have had zero returns in over four years of sales and I would like to keep it that way.

Re: Show the sellers that are for this GTC policy.

Yep, you can make errors more easily when you do not do GTC. I got two out of stock defects because I goofed up the re lists.  I also have forgotten at times to re list stuff and the items were just sitting there unlisted.
