Show serial number in listing or not? (computer components, SSD, Hard drive, CPU, RAM, etc)?

Should I show the full serial number of PC electronics in a listing or not? Items I'll be selling are used SSD's, hard drives, RAM, CPU, video cards. What is safest to protect me? The items aren't worth a lot of money, but I'd rather not deal with a headache of some shenanigans with S/N exposed, unless it is safer to show them? I am considering showing just the last 3-4 numbers of the S/N.

Suggestions? Thoughts?

Thanks.

It makes no real difference if you include the numbers or not.  They will not offer you any more protection.  All the "buyer" has to say is it is not as described.  send you back a box of rocks and you will lose the case.

I don't know the category.........but in general I would say it can't hurt.  Nothing can totally protect you, but pointing out the s/n may deter those that would make a  switch on a return.

I always add a photo showing all the numbers.

It might not help much, but might help keeping some scammers away.

Have a great day.

Re: Show serial number in listing or not? (computer components, SSD, Hard drive, CPU, RAM, etc)?

Here is one reason why you might not want to show serial numbers. Companies use products for rigorous testing or are damaged in some way and are marked to be destroyed and not for sale. These products usually with no serial numbers find their way to the market. Unscrupulous sellers then go through listings to create fake serial numbers for these products. It is why many sellers black out the serial numbers.

For some items where a fake is unlikely it does not matter. On some items like high end vintage cameras, the serials helps buyers determine things like the year it was made. For what you sell, there is no need to show the serials.
