For USPS only the small narrow thermal printers (like the Dymo 450) work great. For USPS as well as UPS and FedEx you need a larger printer for 4"x6" labels (like the Dymo 4XL).

I use the wired (vs. wireless) Rollo thermal printer. I've printed around 2000 labels without any issues and it was trivial to set up.

LOVE our Rollo. Don't know why I waited so long to get one. I went with the wired one instead of wireless, saved $100 and it was going to sit near my computer anyway. Saves me so much time.

Google this
MFLABEL Label Printer 4x6 Thermal Printer, Commercial Direct Thermal High Speed USB Port
And you could find one under $80
This is the best I've ever used.

I purchased a refurbished Rollo Thermal printer off of eBay years ago. Still going strong (before wireless model was released). Works great for eBay labels.

Seems to be general agreement that the Zebra thermal printers are the best (I have one), they are also the most expensive to buy which is why I went with a used one (there are lots of them out there) as they pretty much last forever.
I don't have any personal experience with the cheap thermal printers but I have looked at them and they do have that "cheap" feel. The printer heads may last but the mechanical portions that feed the labels may not. The really cheap printers from brands you never heard of probably work fine but don't last.
You can increase the life expectancy by slowing down the rate of speed when printing multiple labels, this will help prevent the printer head from overheating.

I use a Zebra - it has lasted for years.
It's important to clean the print head every one or two rolls of media, though, or not only does the print get mouse-eaten after a while, but it can ruin the print head.

I forgot to mention, there is only ONE problem with the Rollo.
Maybe it's unfair to blame the Rollo for this, but...
Have you ever shipped to Guam?
Shipping labels to Guam are different.
They will not print out on a 4" X 6" label on the Rollo.
They have to be printed on a full sheet of paper on a regular printer.

All packages shipped usps first class international anywhere in the world outside of the US will print out like your example. Not just Guam.

I guess I’m the oddball in the group. I use HP Envy printers. I have 2, one prints my labels for my audio CDs, the other prints shipping labels and packing slips.

All you all are high class printing

That's because customs slips aren't compatible with thermal printers, particularly the two pages that print for priority. I think Guam gets those despite being US territory, due to flight/sailing over international waters.
