Seller performance not updating

Can anybody explain whats going on here? Today is supposed to be the seller evaluation but my seller performance rating is still saying below standard. It looks like they skipped the July 20 evaluation. It’s making no sense:

Current seller level
Below Standard
As of Jun 21, 2019

If we evaluated you today
Your seller level would beAbove Standard
Next evaluation on Aug 20, 2019

Again, you need to look at the details of what I posted.  The concern was caused by the fact that the next evaluation date, before the July evaluation was posted, was showing as Aug.

This was confusing to the OP, confusing to me, and I'm sure could be confusing to others.

So in retrospect, the evaluations seem to have happened at different times to different users throughout the day ... almost as if they were done in smaller batches by a job scheduler that took many hours to complete.

And that's probably how it happens every single month. It's just that either no one notices, or they are already aware that it could update any time of day, or they don't start a thread about it.

To the OP: @red_daredevil

Please come back and let us know whether your evaluation updated on July 20 or if some kind of problem caused yours to still not update.

We hope the OP comes back to update, but sadly I'm seeing many OP's who don't return, after reporting problems here and getting frustrated with all of the ongoing issues on the site.

While that certainly can be one reason, it is far too often something different.  Often they realize that they over reacted to something or didn't want to answer the questions ask of them.  But yes it can be out of frustration too.  With the site or the posters reactions to what they perceived as an issue.

In this particular case, it was NOT a glitch of any kind whatsoever and just the way the Eval is done in stages.  It's a big site with well over 25 million sellers worldwide.  Ebay did what they said they would do, which is eval sellers on the 20th.  They did that and the results were posted before the end of the day.  Normal stuff.

I don't think the OP overreacted at all.  They shared a valid concern, about something I also felt did not provide the true and accurate information (see my prev. post).

No-one should be made to feel that their concern isn't meaningful or correct.  In my opinion this concern is 100% valid. white_check_mark

Just a curiosity question.  Was is the purpose of the white check mark in the green circle?  It looks similar to the checkmarks given when a post is selected by the OP as the solution to the thread.  I'm just asking, nothing more.

I agree.  Just think what would happen if the whole shooting match was attempted to be updated all with the same keystroke.

Should it be possible?  Well perhaps. I am not IT savvy enough to know if it is even possible someplace other than at eBay, but my preference would be for them not to attempt it.  Talk about a "crash day" 🙂 It would be epic. I will wait until the next day and not be concerned.

Such a good point.  If it didn't crash the site, could you imagine how slow it would be to respond.

Ebay has been doing evals like this for years, most understand what the Dashboard is telling us, but for some there will always be a bit of confusion or a learning curve until they get use to how things are done / updated on the Dashboard.  But as we know, that doesn't make it a glitch.

It simply makes it their misunderstanding of the process.  That can be a hard pill for some to swallow and the problem must be elsewhere.

But at least now the OP knows how it works and next month should be easier on them.

In this case it's not a glitch, but a process/software coding issue.  The field that shows the next evaluation date should not change to the next month, until the Seller Performance Ratings are posted for the current month.  For the OP it was showing Aug. prior to the July data being posted

And what others have explained, it is NORMAL.  Nothing at all unusual.  Nothing going wrong.  It WAS eval day and things just take time to post on a site this size.  Ebay did what they said they would do in the timeframe that Ebay said it would do it.  The OP just wanted Ebay to be quicker.  But Ebay never said they would, that is just what the OP wanted.

I understand why the Op wanted it, other posters covered that quite well.  The OP is in a bad place with their account and they are trying to work their way out of it.  So they just wanted the info faster that Ebay had stated they would give it.

Whether the OP wants to come back to the thread or not, for whatever reason they may have.  The issue of the eval has been resolved for them, so that part of their issue is over and done with.

It's not a process/software coding issue either. It's a misinterpretation of the information on the screen.

It was not valid. That's the way it looks every month, month after month. It has everything to do with "batch processing" and "the day isn't over yet." That's exactly what it had to do with, and I'm not sure why you won't acknowledge that.

I understand the OP was angry because s/he is below standard and was anxious about the eval, but that doesn't mean s/he didn't overreact about it not updating at the precise moment s/he expected it to.

There is a difference between having empathy for posters with legitimate concerns and issues with eBay policies and procedures versus jumping on the bandwagon of every poster who has a gripe that isn't founded in anything but anger or not knowing how to use a given feature.

I can point out half a dozens threads on the boards posted just today where the OP comes out with guns blazing, angry as all get-out, only to discover within a couple of responses that s/he was all wrong, and just didn't know how to use whatever feature they're complaining about. I'm going to correct those people and give them support and empathy, but I'm not going to go straight to "Oh, yeah. Isn't eBay horrible? Nothing works. There are so many issues. I just hate it." If their complaint is unfounded, I'm going to correct it, not blow it up into some Great and Noble Cause.

Your post for me is just an example of my concern, as you are openly deriding the OP in a negative way.  Hopefully no-one is following them around on the threads to give them a difficult time.

My point, regarding the way the data field displays the next month "prior to the Sellers Performance Rating being updated," is 100% valid.

"If you're going to post a General Reply for everyone here, best to reply to one of your own posts.

I've been on many threads and never saw this done before. I also don't think it's a normal thing to do, but just my opinion."

It happens all the time. It's very normal. Why are you taking it so personally?

Gotta agree with greg on this one...it would have appeared to me like July was skipped.

There is absolutely no shame in raising questions & concerns, but it is shameful how some will jump on every post with a question or concern by parroting the same old song and dance about how ebay is useless, hopeless, (fill in the blank), when they really have no idea how some things work.

I find this to be the complete opposite of being helpful, and really, quite shameful.  Maybe some that do this have an ulterior motive -- shorting the stock maybe...

Not sure who your post is direct towards, but since your replying to me there's an inference that it's towards me.  Not only is this offensive to me, it's not in accordance with the guidelines here.

Next month, on August 20, take a screenshot of your seller performance evaluation screen at 5:30 a.m. PDT and post it on a new thread for us.

The things you may perceive as normal, others sometimes do not.

There are also many processes and system issues that eBay thinks are normal, that many here do not.

Also, I think the issue for the OP will be resolved when the OP feels it's resolved and not when others here say it is.

This is the first time I’ve posted on this thread. Therefore saying Again towards me is incorrect. I’ve read the post and I don’t need to read it again. Thanks
