Seller ends item just because I asked questions?

Hello Ebay Members,

Just sent a message to a seller asking qustions about a item. Seller does not repond just raises the price and ends the item. What is a person suppose to do when no body wants to communicate? This has happen to me several times. I'm not tring to be _____ about it. Why even sell at all?  As a buyer I'm starting to get a bad vibe as do not even ask qustions put that on your ad. The Feedback communication system does not work on here. What a waste of time? Hope all is well for other sellers buyers.

I 100% agree.  Some sellers feel that all their info is out there and that is all you need.  And if you ask for more then you are a problem buyer.

Re: Seller ends item just because I asked questions?

I 100% agree.

I agree as well.  I just love the questions like "how tall is your 5" Vase"?    "Will this fit my dog?"  "Will you take $20 and free shipping?"   BBL

I do understand that ebay "hides" the description oftentimes especially for app users.  The listing, if in their catalog, may be forced to include information that is not accurate.  I simply don't have time to tell you "without defects"  means exactly what I stated.   If a buyer persists they get the BBL.  Typically, if they are a PITA prior to bidding or buying, it only gets worse.  Just my opinion, other's may vary.

@repair1techj

raises the price and ends the item.

Errr....which?

As a seller I've thought about a question and then revamped a description. Even raised the price when I learned what I had.

I thank the questioner though.

And  I've ended items where  questioner pointed out how wrong my description was. Again with thanks.

If it happened once, the seller was rude.

If it keeps happening, perhaps you were rude.

While eBay frowns on it, many sellers of specialty items list on multiple venues.

If the item sells elsewhere, it is removed from eBay. The item you wanted might have sold elsewhere.

You can't leave feedback when there is no transaction. Buyers can leave negative, positive or neutral feedback.

While eBay doesn't use FB as a measure of a seller's account, buyers will read it, particularly negatives looking for a pattern of 'poor communication', 'low quality', 'slow delivery' or the like.

Sellers can only leave positive feedback, but we read Feedback Left For Others by buyers for clues.

Maybe your question prompted him to take a closer look at the item - and he decided that is was incorrectly described, or not the item he thought it was, or that it was a lot more valuable.

Re: Seller ends item just because I asked questions?

We all come from different walks of life.  Some can read through a description fast.  Others take more time.  For some they may not understand.  English may be a second language.  We old folks miss things right in front of our faces.

So yes sometimes the answer is obvious to 10 people.  But it is not to that 11th one, and if he wants confirmation  why not?

Its odd that they would raise the price before ending it.  I’m curious too what your question was but regardless, I think a seller should answer questions unless the person is being abusive.

Re: Seller ends item just because I asked questions?

Kinda off topic but..

I sell alot of used clothing, 70% of the questions I get are what is the waist  measurement or what is the Inseam.

Problem is every listing I make with used clothing has several pictures with a tape measure showing these exact measurements.

Seems like most buyers dont look past the first picture

Re: Seller ends item just because I asked questions?

I'm sorry this has happened to you.

For me, buyer questions have saved me from some real problems.

Once, I listed a brooch as a specific brand - a potential buyer asked me for a picture of the mark.....woops no mark.  Had I not rec'd that question there was a INAD that would have been 100% my fault. Once I had a $17 item listed for $1,700......really appreciated that being pointed out. Once someone told me that I had a hard to find item priced way below comps and gave me some good background. Recently, I was asked what is the length of an item - hmmm, I thought I have a ruler in the pic....checked it and the ruler was backwards & I never caught it.

So, do I appreciate questions....yes I do........Best to be patient with questions.

Re: Seller ends item just because I asked questions?

Questions
How old is the item?
Wanted to know the date code on the item for warranty purpose because the warranty is transferable according to manufacture.
You go into a store ask a question and get turned away.
Sorry will not buy from you sorry checked off the list.
Ask a simple question about a product because it's not in details why because its customer service that might just push a sale.
I'm grateful for buyers and the sellers who have went out of there way to help me. Maybe I should just move on already.
