Seller ends item just because I asked questions?

Hello Ebay Members,

Just sent a message to a seller asking qustions about a item. Seller does not repond just raises the price and ends the item. What is a person suppose to do when no body wants to communicate? This has happen to me several times. I'm not tring to be _____ about it. Why even sell at all?  As a buyer I'm starting to get a bad vibe as do not even ask qustions put that on your ad. The Feedback communication system does not work on here. What a waste of time? Hope all is well for other sellers buyers.

@repair1techj  LOL!  No offense but your post caught my eye ... so what were the questions you asked?  Unless I accidently missed one or two my Descriptions end with "Questions welcome"...

You sound like you are the type of Buyer who reads the listing and looks at the pictures ... ALL of them.  This evening I got another question on an item whereby the answer was in Conditions AND Description PLUS there was a picture of the item the member asked about ... I just scratch my head at times.

You mentioned this has happened to you several times ... without knowing what  you are trying to buy and what the questions were its hard to really give you a good answer ...

The question was how old is the item?

Wanted to know the date code stamped on the item because the manufacture offers a transferable warranty.

Ahhh, good question ...

Best regards,

I do review prices used and new. Could have replied sorry it's no longer in stock thank you for your interest. I'll just move onto the next seller.

Thank you members for sharing your thoughts.

your question does not seem out of line. Maybe they didn't realize that the warranty was transferable and decided that was a selling feature and would get a higher amount. Possibly even elsewhere.

I encountered a buyer just this morning, whom had been making low offers all week that were set to auto decline. Today she offered an amount above that amount and I read her notes with the other offers. "Work w me, this item is used", "why are you listing as best offer if you don't accept?" "Other sellers accept these offers on used items" etc. The item is nwot and is unused. Stated, shown I photos, and so on.

I accepted offer before reading notes, and i messaged her. Clarifying it is infact new without tags. 5 questions later about how its new if its discontinued, each ending in some form of "a used item" she says she will pay in 8 days. I called eBay to cancel the sale. 8 days is not acceptable, I am not messing around with that kind of shipping delay and I just feel as though she was setting me up for a snad. Sometimes its just a gut feeling. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the question asked....

Good?

Bad?

Ugly?

It seems a bit odd that a seller would raise the price and then end the listing.  Did he perhaps end the listing and then re-list at a higher price?

It is possible that the seller upon receiving your question realized that he had undervalued the item.  This could explain the reason for the price increase.

Unfortunately, eBay has let it be known that they frown on too much buyer/seller communication.  While I and many other people think communications is a good thing, some sellers try to limit it so much in order to avoid eBay's bots suspecting them of trying to make off eBay deals that they go to the extreme and end up being rude.

Very good point. Never a relist just edited the price and end item. The price used was about right but then the seller added hundreds more extra. Ohh Well. Could have messaged sorry no longer it stock.

Asked another seller questions more details about item. Not even a reply.

Re: Seller ends item just because I asked questions?

OP,

Your simple question might have set off a whole train of questions in the seller's mind.  It may have been "oops, did I list the wrong item" (been there, done that) to "if I didn't get that right, did I get something else wrong".   For some sellers, editing the description is a task beyond them and cancelling the item is easier.

Your question may have shaken the seller's confidence - in themselves ( how could I miss something so important?) and in the item  ( if this brand is supposed to have a date code why can't I find it?)

I do not know everything about everything.  Questions that are outside the description are informational and often I will add that additional information to my descriptions.  I have done research, compiling a list of information that should be included for particular types of items before I list them.  Sometimes I miss something.

I want nothing to do with ebay users that completely misunderstand ebay.

I can't fathom a scenario where anyone would.
