I ship the old-fashioned way by taking my items into the post office to get labels and be shipped. My Top Seller designation is being dinged for not having the tracking scanned. I provide the tracking number myself to the buyer, but I cannot make the carrier scan it. It is the fault of the USPS - not me - if it is not scanned. Why do I get penalized for it!!

Yep, I think they just missed entering one of their tracking numbers to ebay.

Based on the original poster's sales history, for their TRS status to be in jeopardy over the "tracking uploaded on time and validated" rating that would mean approx 8 (or more) transactions out of 130 in the past 90 days didn't meet eBay standards.
We can't truly help @paisleycrazy pinpoint the problem unless they come back to provide answers to questions asked upthread, but my guess is the answer has already been provided above in one or more posts since numerous topics were covered.

I switched to three day handling to help some with that.

Op stated " My Top Seller designation is being dinged for not having the tracking scanned." I don't see that as it being in jeopardy, it may be but that's not how I read it.
If they haven't been uploading tracking all along how did they get to TRS status in the first place.
I think they got dinged because they missed uploading a tracking number.
You are right, the only way we can know for sure is with more information from the OP.

You're correct. I guess I assumed somebody wouldn't be complaining over one hit on that performance standard. eBay gives us a 5% tolerance specifically for the occasional issue with the carrier, human error, and more.
If your interpretation is correct and this is just a single package that wasn't scanned and TRS is not in jeopardy, my advice to the OP is to not worry about it. One hit to that performance standard means nothing.
If the label was purchased at the PO, as both myself and Jack said above, that action auto-confirms package acceptance in the system which means the seller performance rating wouldn't be affected unless there was an issue when the seller added tracking to the transaction - like adding it late or something.
Which brings me back around to: if it's just one outlier package, there's no reason to give it another thought. 🙂

Interestingly i know not exactly topic.
I dropped off 15 packages at a kiosk on a Sunday.
I have the receipt that shows acceptance.
The scans never made it on the tracking.
Luckily I don't have it set for Sunday drop off so once they got scanned at the distro on Monday I was okay.
You ever run into that?

I'm wondering if the O.P. is going into a post office and using a self-serve kiosk, printing the labels, and then dropping them in package drop box like you do your regular mail. You can do this even at mid-night.
I'm guessing the workers are not scanning the packages. This will happen when they are either very busy or maybe lazy.
Anyway, the O.P. will get a printed receipt with all the details. They should be going back home and entering those tracking numbers to each order.
Eventually the package will get scanned. Probably at the next destination.
If the O.P. decides to look into purchasing labels on-line (get a discount), be sure not to just drop the packages at the counter and walk away. You will have the same possible issue with scanning. Wait in line and get those packages scanned and a printed receipt.

if the PO is to lazy to scan it, the the seller has a ding.

The Self-Serve Kiosk is also able to do a Provisional Acceptance scan of package labels bought on-line at home. eBay accepts Provisional scans as proof of mailing.

I used to work in several of those podunk offices. 🤣 I have to use one to ship. You may still need a receipt in case of loss, etc. I keep handy a bunch of USPS receipt forms. Most clerks will give them to you because you are saving them time by filling out the track # and package type in advance. The clerks stamps and sign it when I drop packages off. I also make sure they scan it. Yes, it's extra work but if a scan somehow goes missing at least you have your proof of shipping. They have to give you a receipt if you ask for one. If they don't, file a complaint.

Having worked for USPS, I know it's not uncommon when people just drop stuff in a box or use pick up for scans/items to get missed. It usually picks up somewhere along the way but that can still cause issues with buyers wondering if an item shipped or if an item is lost or damaged. That's why I always take the time to go inside, get the scan and a receipt.

Well, since we haven’t heard from the poster with the problem to clarify details, I’ll add my two cents. Since they are TRS, it seems they are imputing the tracking numbers, but maybe they are entering them incorrectly on some. I’m sure I’d mess them up if I had to do that.

If the reason you're not purchasing postage at home (and thus receiving the ebay discount) is because you don't want to hassle printing labels, why not use the QR code method.
Purchase the label at home, but don't print it. Your tracking label is now in the system.
Show the QR code to the USPS clerk, and they will generate the label and give you a receipt.

Yep, I use the kiosks exclusively and my packages all immediately show "Accepted" once I've gotten that scan.

I agree with some of the other posters. Sounds like you are forgetting to enter your tracking numbers to Ebay within your stated handling time. Ebay can't know the tracking number since you don't create your shipping on Ebay, so you have to upload it from your PO receipt. Watch your number, you have to be accurate.
