Seller Hub - timing for solutions

If you were on the Chat today there was some good discussion on Seller Hub but one of the big concerns is eBay's ability to quickly revise it to be a more effective tool.  There was one comment made in response to a post, " ... The goal of Seller Hub is to centralize functionality in one place rather than have multiple tools with different functionalities in different places.  It does not yet have all of the functionality we envision for this tool ... "

While I get that, the current format is spread out that all the functionality has to be searched for, scrolled to, clicked several times to get to.  It also sounds like lots of the older Classic formats will eventually be history.

I've been using the Hub for a few weeks now and put a 2nd ID here in it myself.  There is some good functionality that I like on the Relisting tool on the Hub compared the older Classic style.  There are some good Shortcuts that I like.  There is however simply too much wasted space on the Overview page in the various tiles and my concern is that the fix for that will not be forth coming any time soon and not before other older format functionality has been discontinued.  And yes, I keep harping on this because it lies at the center of many complaints I have read about the Hub ... the Customization needs to be completed AND allow Sellers to size the tiles and create their own lists PLUS combine the Selling Tools list with the Shortcut list ... full customization will give sellers some ownship as to how they structure it to satisfy and support their business profile as a Seller.

I encourage folks to keep using the Comments link to point out things you like and don't like ...

Below is a pic I prepared from my Overview Page ... what I want to see is the black areas turned into the "functionality" mentioned above ... take a look, there's enough black space for another tile on the first row ...

How simple would it be for ebay to launch ebay Lite for sellers who gross under $50,000...or even $10,000?
NO muss...NO fuss...NO changes.
List...sell...ship....All from ONE page.

Brilliant!

Unfortunately those sellers would start complaining that they

  • do not have a feature they use to have, or
  • how can I compete with others sellers who have these tools available to them.
  • I use to get 50 free listings now I only get 25,
  • I can only list using a very basic listing form when I now want to do more with my listings
  • Because I am a very small seller using the simple list, sell, ship app on eBay my items are not being seen in search eBay is hiding my listing because of this
  • Fill in as many bullet points as you want.  there are a million reasons why

The reason ebay might be using two separate seller hubs right now is because they are still doing A / B testing.  Actually let me back up and say they will always be doing A / B testing on the hub and pretty much all tools from time to time.

The basic functions seem to be the same for both versions.  The problem is in some of these specialty things each sellers like to use.

Good Luck Selling!

Re: Seller Hub - timing for solutions

Then again, what if they charged 7%, and made it perfectly clear (I know...impossible for ebay) what the Lite version is and is not.

As in..."you're paying for a Yugo...if you need a Mercedes 500SL, use the mothership version."
Side benefit...ebay would learn in a hurry how many sellers could care less about all the bells and whistles.

Don't sell yourself short, it is a Brillaint idea ... its about the same as the customization, tile sizing and list combining I have suggested ... just put the items I use on one row, easily seen and viewed and the rest gets hidden ...

Re: Seller Hub - timing for solutions

There is or was a super simplified Create Item Listing page/interface for brand new accounts.  Very few options.  Forced Best Offer turned on..and I forget what else.   Didn't suit me.

Users with new acounts may still have that at first, but I don't know.

Foisting a listing tool on new sellers which doesn't allow any duration but GTC on FP, attached Best Offers with no way to remove it and which (most likely) throws them into GSP is one of the lowest level "brilliant ideas" they've come up with lately.

Can those of us that LIKE seller hub keep it?

I hate photobucket right now... PS Answers given years ago may or may not be current now, please check with current posters to the boards to see if the information is still relevant.

Works for me... I had SMP before SH... and I can use either back and forth...

I don't care that eBay is tracking the star wars figures I threw up on a whim and telling me how bad my sales are based on that one little catagory.

I could care less that items have been up for 18 months without a sale... they'll go sooner or later till then it's quite happy sitting there looking pretty.

I don't care if eBay thinks I have 10 unread messages... they all got read in my gmail, (which reminds me time to go clean that stupid message box back out again)

Could care less if I got feedback that day, or how many, or what it was on... I'll figure that out when I sign in and the number by my name changed.

I only need  SMP / SH when I sell something to print the label... (I hate doing it on paypal)

Rest I do on Auctiva ANYWAY 😄 (listing creation, editing, price changing ect)
