Seller Hub Active Listings, Orders, Overview - design changes rolling out

Mentioned in my post of Seller Check In Highlights from about 6 weeks ago:

Chuck [Van Pelt] shared sneak preview screenshots of upcoming changes to the Seller Hub Orders page and Active Listings page surrounding search/filter navigation on Active listings, features to more easily access repeat buyer history on Orders, and more. I strongly encourage everybody to watch their networking session.

Here's that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZeU_ynzUAY

I heard from a seller that has the new view today, at least for Active listings. I forgot to ask him about the Orders page. (In the video I loved what eBay did with repeat buyers on the Orders page.)

With my buddy's permission I'm posting screenshots from his new Active Listings view compared to the old view which most of us are still seeing. Green line is the divider. Top = current soon to be old view | Bottom = new view

Disclaimer: These images are from different computers and browsers, probably with different zoom settings, so don't assume that because the bottom one looks so tiny compared to the top that it actually is. I'm showing the comparison so you can see the changes in function and how everything is in a slightly different place under a more compact view with new filter buttons.

My God that looks awful! Mine account has not switched over to that y yet and I hope it never does!! This the the unified listing tool all over again. A huge waste of time and extra clicks! It took two years of complaints and ultimately a huge decrease in new listing activity and gmv before they redesigned it back to something that was usable on a computer.

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine had his account switch over and he hated it but then it switched back so so even knows what they are doing.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way it was. Simple buttons to click that are all visible on the main page. This new sidebar filter system sucks. Plain and simple.

It's just discouraging to even log in to eBay anymore.

The company is so disappointed that the trans do not even share their results with each other from all these tests....or we would not be going through this again

Re: Seller Hub Active Listings, Orders, Overview - design changes rolling out

A couple weeks ago a bunch of sellers were switched over, but then they were switched back @siamjane8 . You can see some screenshots here.

Because I wasn't switched over during that time, I did not realize All Filters was a nested side panel with layer upon layer of clicks to apply filters we used to have with a single drop down click.

When I started this thread today [8/20] I didn't even realize it was the same changes as a couple weeks ago because nobody specifically mentioned a nested panel that I saw.

I would not have created a duplicate thread had I realized; I would have just tacked on to my other thread. I'll ask the moderators if they can merge this thread into my old one.

Edit: Thank you to the moderator who merged my 2 threads. This post may read as out of context to newcomers. You can ignore this post.

I had this a few weeks ago and it switched back... Was thankful...

However, I just checked and I now have it again. Grrr...

This one is MISSING stuff that we had before. IDC about the change if it wasn't missing stuff.

Two of my biggest complaints when it comes to eBay:

1. Inefficient, time-wasting redesigns with never ending clicks.

2. Redesigns resulting in the loss of essential functionality.

@wastingtime101

Have their developers been instructed to emphasize form over function?

Re: Seller Hub Active Listings, Orders, Overview - design changes rolling out

From what i can see, all they did was remove obvious features and hid them behind drop down or popup boxes again to "clean up" the page.  This in no way constitutes efficiency - simply means it take more steps to get to the information that was at your fingertips before.  Everything comes at a cost- ebay chooses to make things take longer to use in exchange for what they think looks hipper or more modern.

I did not use half of the filters or quick buttons...... but i did not care that they were there.  The point is that a different seller might have used those for their efficiency. All sellers are not the same and we use different features.   By just hiding all the features in popups, nobody is a winner- it just takes longer for all of us!

And that does not even take into account all the new glitches and forgotten and missing features that will be introduced over the next year after implementing broken code and missing links etc.   It just an endless cycle of frustration.    BTW- Amazon does not change every detail of their platform every 3 weeks and they are doing just fine! lol.

Re: Seller Hub Active Listings, Orders, Overview - design changes rolling out

The biggest issue with this change is the category filter. I rely on category filter heavily. You're accurate @siamjane8 in comparing this to the Unified Lister launch.

Let's say I want to check off 6 subcategories.

Old format:

- Click the category drop down

- toggle store categories

- expand all

- check boxes next to the 6 I want

- click the search button

New format:

- Click the all filters button

- select categories on side panel

- select store categories

- select category

- check subcategory

- exit to previous screen

- select another category

- check subcategory

- exit to previous screen

- select category

- check subcategory

- exit to previous screen

- select category

- check subcategory

- exit to previous screen

- select category

- check subcategory

- exit to previous screen

- select category

- check subcategory

- exit to previous screen

- apply filter with blue button at bottom

I also don't care about a shortcut button for "listing with watchers" but I would appreciate if categories had a button with a drop down like it used to. If a category button that did not open up a side panel was reinstated, this change would be livable. There is room to add a categories button. The key is it needs to open a drop down, not a freaking nested side panel with 22 clicks just to select a handful of subcategories.

devon@ebay - I'm also spotting tech issues with the new format.

1. I applied a business category filter. Then I cleared the filter. Now every time I expand the all categories side panel it shows that filter is applied. I click clear. It disappears. I expand the panel again. The filter shows applied again. I click clear. It disappears. Repeat on loop.

2. Page load is v-e-r-y s-l-o-w. Any time I apply filters or clear filters it takes ages for the filters to apply and page to load. This was not the case with the old format where everything loaded quickly.

(For reference, I ran an internet speed test and was rated "very fast" at 349.2 Mbps download speed with a latency of only 6 ms. Page load issue is coming from eBay's end.)

3. Loading active listing page, a long list of buttons appears while the page is loading, then it takes a while - on average 12 seconds - for the page to finish loading and the buttons to disappear down to the condensed view. See screenshots.

Re: Seller Hub Active Listings, Orders, Overview - design changes rolling out

I just wish they focused on things I want.

Like an easy way to remove automatic offers sending. Disabling.

Maybe there is an easy way but I have to do them 1 by 1. Last time I did it was like 2,000 listings I wanted to turn off automatic offers on.

Maybe I'm dumb and there is a bulk way of doing it.

Or work on markdown manager that always glitches where items don't get marked down and are stuck.

Promoted listing automation by ruleset that doesn't work properly.

But instead focus energy on cosmetically changing seller tools where it slows things down.

There isn't. There used to be a bulk filter, but you still had to apply the changes to listings one at a time. Not sure if that filter still exists with the new format.

You can check to see if this link still works:

They sure as heck allow you to add automatic offers to 1000s of listings with a single button.

But not remove them.

Sorry it bugs me.

Re: Seller Hub Active Listings, Orders, Overview - design changes rolling out

My Sellers Hub just updated to the new design this morning. It STINKS!! I hate it. The Summary displays is gone. That was a great feature. At a glance I could see if I had any bids, if there are any watchers and how many items i have ending today. Now I have to click on individual filters to see that - Listings with Watchers to see watchers, Status to see listing ending today and Listing Activity to see listings with bids. Additionally, I have to Clear each filter before clicking on the next one to see the total items ending today. What a pain. There was nothing wrong with the old Sellers Hub.

Why does eBay make these changes so it is more difficult to work with your listing and see what you want? Their programmers have no clue how sellers work and what makes it easier for them to do so. Do they ever listen and take advice from their sellers/users? My philosophy has always been "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
