You can start your learning process by reading these forums. Read the last couple of weeks worth and you will find a wealth of information. Good luck.

Hi Yawl..... (it's a two masted sail boat.) I'm being facetious

With no transactions to date you are a prime target to scamming buyers.

You must be very careful. Careful of exactly Doug? How do you do that? Yes, good questions. I'll start with a couple of suggestions and other members will offer more.

Don't ship anything outside the USA.  You don't have anything that can't be had in most foreign countries or at least closer to a buyer than USA.

Make sure you actually receive payment in your PayPal account. Don't just rely on emails telling you so.

Take and post several pictures of your goods, especially of clothing labels as cutting off labels by buyers and returning goods is not uncommon.

Do your best at describing the exact condition of your goods. Don't overlook any flaws in the hopes a buyer won't notice. That's a sign of a poor seller.  Don't ask bidders to look at the pictures for condition. That's an open invitation to argue for a refund.

Be prepared to send a return shipping label and insist an item be returned to you prior to issuing any refund. Don't offer a partial refund for a claimed defect. Have the item returned.

Read  the reports here in the community about the trials and tribulations of dealing with eBay's customer service contractor in some distant land.

You need to put exact measurements in your clothing listings.

I think that someone should buy a few items here before selling so that they understand a little bit more about how eBay works. It is also a good idea to get some feedback as some buyers are cautious about purchasing from a zero feedback seller.

Read the discussion boards here but please keep in mind that people often come here to post about problems, not about their good experiences so imo the majority of buyers are not scammers and simply want want they were promised.

It would be a good idea to read the buyer boards as well to see what problems buyers run into. Actually I think that all sellers should ready the buying boards every once in a while to remind that it is not just sellers that have problems here.

Trust me, Southerners have heard that tired old grammar police joke too many times, and I've sailed on those boats myself so I know a yawl from a ketch.

The term y'all is correct and proper usage--it's the contracted form of "you all."

I'm from Mississippi so I speak Southern.  When we say "ya'll" here, we mean it in a friendly way and we use the term to designate that we are speaking to more than one person.  Of course, if it's a big bunch of folks, we say "all of ya'll" and, yes, I do that.  I also say "bless your heart" when someone is being nice.

And, once you are done reading the boards, go back and read again so you are sure you understand what they are saying in the posts.

Oh, and 'Hi'.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

Welcome.  I hope that you do well!

I second those who have encouraged you to read.  Read the message boards (but take some of what you read with a grain of salt).  Read all the beginner information that eBay has for you.  Read the A-to-Z help index.  And watch all the Webinars that eBay has available.  You'll have questions; be sure to ask them.

Before you sell, buy.  You need feedback, and you'll get positive feedback more quickly as a buyer since sellers cannot leave negatives.

Start slow.  The first items you list should be low value and easy to ship.  You will make mistakes; we all do.  It's less painful to make mistakes on items you can afford to lose.

And never give up.  The only way to lose the game is to stop playing.  Cat Happy

Of course the game is rigged.  But, unless you play, you can't win.  Smiley Wink
