Question about particular unpaid item.

So here is the situation.

Buyer sends a $220 offer for one of my listings. I accept within an hour. After 24 hours I notice he has 0 feedback and a pretty new account, so I get a little nervous. This has happened to me a couple other occasions and I ended up doing an unpaid claim after never hearing back from the buyer, so I assume this will be the same. He still hasn't paid so I send a friendly reminder to pay. After about 40 hours I have not heard from him, so I send one last reminder to pay. After 3 days, no response, so I initiate an unpaid item case. A few hours later he messages me with "i cant pay for this idk what u want me to do"

So, what do I do? I'm not intimately familiar with how eBay works in these cases, but I have read the two options are to let the unpaid case resolve, or cancel the order. I'm afraid if I cancel the order I might not get reimbursed for the seller fee's incurred with the transcation. I also do not know if it's possible to cancel once an unpaid claim has been made and the buyer still hasn't paid.

You have already filed INR.  Close it 4 days later, and block this guy.

You will get your fees back.

After 4 days (96 hours) from the time you opened the Unpaid Item Case...close the case.  You will get your Final Value Fees back.  Buyer will get an account strike.   He deserves it...he made an offer and did not pay.      Don't cancel his bid or communicate any further with him.  Ignore any messages from him.   Just wait 96 hours and close the case.  Put buyer on your block list.

I don't believe it is possible to cancel at buyers request, once a UPI is filed.  Once, long ago, you could...........

I'm not sure about that either. I never use auction format any longer and always check the box for immediate payment required so I have not worried about that for a long time.

It's not possible.  Just wait and close the unpaid item claim if the buyer doesn't pay within 4 full days (96 hours) after you filed.   It doesn't "resolve" itself (unless the buyer pays).

Unfortunately, I usually list on my phone since it's easier to upload photos. I don't think you can select to require immediate payment on the eBay app. Or if you can I don't know how. I set my default listing to require payment but when I search for items I use other templates and I'm thinking that it copies their preferences? Or perhaps the immediate payment clause doesn't apply to accepted offers. Not sure, either way 95% of the time I get paid immediately, but occasionally something like this happens. I've just never had the buyer contact me after I initiated the unpaid claim.
