Same buyer using different user ID's buying and then immediately requesting to cancel.

This may seem straight forward to just simply block them, but I believe the very same person (a foreign dropshipper) is buying the very same item from me over and over again asking me to cancel them as soon as they buy the item but using different user ID's each and every time! I have reported this to eBay three times now, adjusting my settings based on what eBay suggested and still this person is doing this to me. 14 times again last night for the very same item! It is getting really old to have to deal with this daily. 😞 Anybody have this experience and know what to do about it besides blocking them and reporting them to eBay because that is not working in this case since, they are simply using a different user ID each and every time. How is that even possible? How/why does eBay allow this to happen and why can't they stop it? Any ACTUAL help is greatly appreciated.......Thanks! 🙂

Is it one of your low-cost listings? You may want to temporarily suspend that listing, if so.

Possibly someone is using one of your listings to test out hijacked accounts to see if a purchase can successfully be made, or if a stolen credit card actually works.

See here for something similar:

Re: Same buyer using different user ID's buying and then immediately requesting to cancel.

it looks like you have made a lot of buyers upset due to their negative feedback and your replies to them.  Someone is most likely playing games with you to "get back".  I would suggest a couple of things. I guess you are shipping these seeds in an envelope without tracking? So many saying they didn't receive. Unusual.  Don't make it so personal. Your responses to their negative feedback is creating havoc.  Find a way to ship with tracking. Yes, it will cost more, but this thing you have going on will cost you your business. Backs up your shipping. If someone complains about not receiving---you have tracking to back it up.

I sell seeds so ALL of my items are low cost. I have temp. removed some and they just do it to another one. It seems there is no actually way to stop this after talking to eBay, they either can't or won't do anything about this......thanks for your reply though. 🙂

Re: Same buyer using different user ID's buying and then immediately requesting to cancel.

This is the kind of answer that gets people mugged time and time again over and over never actually doing anything real to stop the actual bad persons behavior! lol! I am looking for ACTUAL ways to stop this rather than me having to change my ways. Adding shipping with tracking would put me out of business in my category because there will still be 1,000 other sellers doing it this way, that will not work either. Your suggestion that I must change to solve this is extremely offensive, but you made it anyways didn't you, see what I am saying. Same as what buyers do "make suggestions" on how I should be running my own business with no regard to how that might impact me personally instead of simply shopping somewhere else, I would prefer they simply did that instead of abusing me with their false power of negative feedback! 😞  Give people a tiny amount or power over you and they will in fact abuse that power, it's human nature. Just like what I am trying to solve now, an abuse of one's power given to them by eBay! Get it yet? That is the real problem here not me? I am doing nothing wrong but defending myself from false claims in those negative feedback! I have been selling here for over 23 years, I am one of the most honest and professional sellers you will find on eBay today.  I never needed eBay force to be a good seller even before they became so harmful to us sellers with all of their overbearing controlling metrics of OUR own businesses! Those harmful eBay ideas have actually made it more and more difficult to provide good service to my customers, not better service, as my hands are often tied to give a buyer exactly what they prefer, instead I must do what Ebay wants me to do in every situation or eBay will harm me in their crazy metrics! This actually earns me quite a lot of negative feedback and all I have done is what eBay makes/wants me do, so eBay will not harm me in that particular situation, but that was not what the buyer would have preferred so they give negative feedback, I can't win either way. 😞 Anyone with 100% positive feedback is simply bending over handing the buyer the lube and paying up to keep the actual bad people quite! 😞 A seller is not bad for trying to defend themselves. A buyer who holds negative feedback over me will have to actually do the deed and harm me, this shows their bad character not mine. Often for things I myself cannot and will never be able to actually control anyway like say USPS's service for example. I am made responsible for the poor service of and have to then subsidize the bad service of a multi-billion-dollar corporation for which I then get lost of negative feedback! It's like a bad nightmare you can never wake up from! lol! This is more Ebay force happening to us small businesses......Your suggestions are like telling a woman she should not wear a certain skirt or other clothing, "you brought it upon yourself"! lol! Not at all useful to me, but thanks for trying and have a nice day! 🙂

I will simplify my above answer some for you in case you need it: You are telling me I have to change my behavior to suit the bad persons behavior so the bad person will not harm me! lol! ABSURD! 😞

Back when I was selling like hotcakes, I often had winning bidders for auctions that would suddenly become "no longer registered". Who knows why they do what they do.

Re: Same buyer using different user ID's buying and then immediately requesting to cancel.

This is a difficult subject to navigate and it would be great if Ebay could work on a solution to this longstanding issue. You used to be able to get cheap tracking labels for small cost items shipped in envelopes and the USPS stopped offering that service. Until the issue is resolved, there is an exceptional amount of liability for users selling <$10 items. The current default solution to this problem is to immediately offer a refund/re-ship to any disgruntled buyers and try to be as kind and understanding towards their concerns as possible. I do share the opinion of others who have responded, you need to stop airing out your grievances in your responses on the feedback page.  Although the circumstances you face certainly seem unfair, you are damaging your own credibility and highlighting the methods by which you find yourself being scammed. If anyone has any links to any other threads addressing these issues, please post them. I am currently unaware of any definitive solution to this issue.

So you assume that ALL the people claiming they never received their items are "bad persons"?  How would you know?  How COULD you know, with no tracking?  Do you realize how many more are going to be lost this month, among the massive influx of envelopes for Christmas cards?

No, Bill was NOT suggesting you change your behavior to suit "bad persons" -he was suggesting you change your behavior to tell the difference between pad persons and persons with a legit reason to be dissatisfied.  Look at your second-from-the-top feedback comment.  -Said they would rather have the seeds they took the time to choose and order, rather than the refund.  That doesn't sound like a scammer to me; sounds like a fellow heirloom garden enthusiast, who honestly did not receive their seeds.   And because I buy here almost as much as I sell, I know all too well how long I can spend studying the listings to make sure I'm ordering exactly what I want, from a good seller.  Do you really not know how frustrating it is when you do that only to get disappointed ... never mind CHEWED OUT by the seller?  Do you really not realize there are tons of scam sellers on eBay, not just scam buyers?

You want a way to sell small amounts of seeds without tracking on an online platform with no risk of Item Not Received claims?  There isn't one.  Period.  You can point your anger at whoever you want about it, but it won't change the fact that it's a fact.

Re: Same buyer using different user ID's buying and then immediately requesting to cancel.

This has happened to me before on one item. A ring of scammers buying the item the second I listed it and then kept cancelling or returning. Just drop listing the item on eBay and post is somewhere else. They will keep harassing you forever. eBay will not help you either. Just drop it for a while. Not worth your time/ effort.

A request to cancel is just that a request to cancel. You are under no obligation to honor the request especially if the buyer has not paid. In those cases I would just ignore the request and let the system cancel the order after 4 days. If they have paid probably best to honor the request and cancel the order.

Anybody have this experience and know what to do about it besides blocking them and reporting them to eBay because that is not working in this case since, they are simply using a different user ID each and every time. How is that even possible?

I would guess that they are using a guest ID to make the purchase and possibly a VPN which eBay does not monitor for buyers but does for sellers.

How/why does eBay allow this to happen and why can't they stop it? Any ACTUAL help is greatly appreciated.......Thanks!

t is a difficult thing to stop. That would be like a retail store attempting to stop returns. About the only thing eBay can do is implement things like immediate payment required for BIN or the autopay for best offers and auctions.

Re: Same buyer using different user ID's buying and then immediately requesting to cancel.

The reason these scams happen is because eBay allows buyers from countries I have blocked and will not sell to to go around our backs and buy from us anyway by providing U.S. addresses at one of the many U.S. forwarding companies aligned with eBay to expedite shipping to such countries. It's an end around that eBay has in place to thwart our own choices as sellers so they do not lose any sales on their platform! Everything else here is not helpful, like pretending it doesn't exist to not upset your customers, oh brother. You people are such sheep! lol! If we would COLLECTIVELY stand up to this stuff it would not exists......It ALL exists because people are sheeple and don't want to "rock the boat" for fear of retaliation. It's so pathetic it makes me sick! 😞

Whoa, trippy.  Maybe he went into some kind of extradimensional time slip and doesn't realize a whole year has passed.  But I can't even imagine what could explain his calling us "sheeple," which is oh-so-2017.
Bless his heart.

I am all about collective action.  So what do you have in mind?  And I mean exactly, like what behavior(s) are we failing to do, that you would call "standing up to this stuff"?
