Seems sales have ground to a halt - anybody else seeing same/different? Don't need comments on why (I think I know), just curious if others are seeing same...

Yes, sales are slow. I don't blame Ebay. I have looked at some of the other selling sites, and Ebay by far has the best format of them all. Also, there are so many sellers out there. As a guide, I look at the total listings for sale, and then look at the number sold. For example, if there are 10,000 listings for gadget A, and the sold number is 500, I know that it's an uphill battle. It's not a perfect gauge, but I find it useful. On the positive side, Ebay's new economy envelope helps a lot. It is very difficult to sell a postcard for 2.00 when the postage required is 4.00! When you can mail it for .75, a lot of customers will buy. Hopefully, it will be expanded to include more small items. Finally, the high postage rates do not help. And now, the Post Office wants to raise rates again. It's hard to sell small items like I do for maybe 4 or 5 dollars, and then ask for 4 dollars to ship! Hopefully, sales will pick up soon for all of us.

FWIW - US unemployment has dropped to 3.6% and 7.0 million people are working now who were unemployed last year.
The US GDP is double the average it has been going all the way back to 1976 (and the Energy Crisis of the Ford years) at 5.7%.
Wages are up 5.6% -- but still lower than inflation.
And the deficit has been paid down by $1.3 trillion, which may make some difference to upcoming infrastructure projects.
What is true is that online buying has dropped back to nearly pre-pandemic levels as people get used to living with widespread disease and going back to their preferred local stores.

7 years later, sales on eBay are still falling. The reason is that eBay was built as the premier auction site, then Amazon showd up and eBay tried to become Amazon... totally corrupting the original business model. Just like Amazon, eBay search results are corrupted by ads and sales tactics. But customers trust Amazon more for this type of business, and they are far better at it in general. EBay basically has no auctions anymore so its a clone of Amazon from the customers perspective, but without freeshipping, fast shipping, central coordination, bulk purchasing power, etc. Combine the death of the auction and the corruption of the business model with the bubble of real collectibles that flooded the market after the internet appeared, and then combine that with decades of collectibles and picker TV shows, its no wonder why eBay has imploded into a useless platform. Less items worth selling, higher prices due to educated customers... deals and steals are a thing of thst past. EBay died like a decade ago, they've just barely been hanging on like a dead leaf about to fall. In the end, they did it to themselves, and it's probably not recoverable at this point without better management and a hail marry. So yeah, sales are dead. At the height I bought 1 item a day on ebay... its been 7 years since I bought anything... Amazon is just better at buy it now and always will be, because it wasnt designed to be an auction site.
