Hey everyone, I have had my account here on EBay for 15 years. Never had any issues. Well now I have the biggest issue.
Months back, I had COVID-19 and was in the hospital for a few days. Proper communication was not conveyed to my colleagues (that part is mostly on me) about a batch of about 5 items that was supposed to go out which resulted in them just sitting in the back for weeks while I was away.
By the time I returned and eventually went to list more items I found that my seller level had plummeted and that’s when I found out about that “bad batch”. Ebay obviously contacted me about the performance level and said to improve it. Well since then we have returned once again to the perfect selling record for months.. yet our selling privileges have been revoked.
We have a seller rating of 100% dating back 15 years and have always had great interaction and relationships with buyers. The bad transactions can be clearly linked back and condensed to that small window I just referenced above. I contacted Ebay about it but the first agent was incredibly unhelpful and just kept copy and pasting TOS. I then spoke to a supervisor (though I doubt it) and while they were better, still they weren’t really listening and then would not refer me to anyone else claiming they were the highest point of contact.
I’m sorry for the long post.. question is, am I just absolutely sh*t out of luck? Or is there something I can do, or someone to contact?

Apparently the request I made to that “highest point of contact” to escalate the case was granted. There was a bit of a delay between the email I got and my account actually being restored but it does appear that I’ve gotten everything back despite the apparent small odds. Thanks all who chimed in and thanks to whoever looked at the case after it was escalated.
The lesson here is be persistent but not an a**hole!

Depends on what ebay email stated. If they have been suspended indefinitely they are gone for good

Yes it said the account can no longer sell.
I know I’m not without fault here, it just seems really crazy that there’s no type appeal system where they can just look at the case and the circumstances.

You are completely out of luck if they restricted you indefinitely. They have been doing that a lot lately for seller rating issues. They will lose a lot of business this way. Set up another account with different info. Or go to facebook marketplace. They are 10 times easier to sell through and much more efficient.

If there is one thing that big faceless corporations hate, it is bad publicity.

same exact thing happen to me, my mom had it and was in the hospital, she comes home, im running back and fourth, now i get it with the first vaccine given, I was one day late on seven items, that was it, i barely sell anything now and they marked me down after 14 yrs on ebay. I was a powerseller for 13 of those years.

If eBay stated permanently then it is pretty much a done deal

Doesn't seem right. Messing up 5 sales during a pandemic leads to permanent ban?
That doesn't sound like the eBay I know. eBay has been very responsive to these issues over the last year and a half. Am I missing something?
Of course, you should be angry at your colleagues who didn't follow through. And at yourself for thinking they would.

You can try appealing on the Ebay for Business Facebook page.......read the rules, send a message asking for help, state the facts, admit guilt........and be prepared to state what you will do in the future to prevent such a thing again...... I think it has worked for some.....

I agree with others that permanent is permanent. However, if I were you, I would keep trying to get someone at eBay that will help you. Reason is, I did see someone restored once. He came on saying he didn't realize his wife was sick (complications of diabetes), she continued selling, but never sent anything. He said she had been permanently banned from selling. I checked a year later, and he had items listed for sale. So somehow he get the account back in active status. Didn't ask him how.

Why would you tell them to do that?
That account would be shut down also.

There is no escaping the eBay shutdown
Creating a new account is just putting off the shutdown on that account also

Maybe if you can produce a hospital document that shows admission date/time and date time of discharge Big Brother eBay just might give you a bye.
Without hard evidence I say they won't - too many people use the Covid-19 pandemic for a convenient excuses. In simpler terms - "Some people will lie a little, some will cheat a little but they will be very sincere about it."

Nothing more to the situation than what I’ve shared. And here’s something that makes this all even more confusing… This morning I got an email from Ebay saying “congratulations you’re seller performance is back on track” and continued to say due to my improved seller level, my items will no longer be charged a higher final value fee or appear lower in the search list.
At the same time it’s telling me I can’t sell, it’s telling me I’ve reclaimed full seller privileges.
What on earth is going on? And still they’re just telling me “there’s nothing we can do”.
