Remove Guest checkout option

I know eBay don’t let sellers block people with under 5 feedback score anymore which is annoying as hell and sorely missed but I just thought can I turn off the guest checkout option as that may also cut down the amount of zero feedback bidders im getting? ( and if so how do u do it as I’m assuming there is no easy simple way to do it as this is eBay after all nothing is made easy for sellers these days other than for them to now take their ridiculously high fee charges)

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

I would rather Ebay show us how many unpaid item strikes they have AND their "return" rate....then let the seller decide if they want to do business with the buyer. Isn't that what the OP is trying to accomplish in the end?

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

I think a lot of sellers get confused by this setting which is still available under setting buyer requirements. It is confusing the way it reads and does not actually do what it appears to do.

You are exactly right.

People are confused.

They think they can block bidders with less than 5 feedback.

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

I can’t indulge in this chat site I’m afraid as seems to be as useful as a motorcycle ashtray but all I do know is each country has its own features and not generic so the unpaid strike link that was sent to me only seems to work in the states and not on buyer requirements but they removed the feature to block under 5 feedback buyers years ago so dead argument but personally I find alarm bells ring if someone has zero feedback but eBay seem to encourage hence the guest checkout so won’t have feedback anyway it is what it is no point crying about spilt milk eBay constantly changing and never for the better it seems but guess that’s why people shop elsewhere now too

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

The reason ebay will not do away with guest checkout is the SAME reason they never allowed sellers to block low feedback bidders, and never have, not even in the UK ... because it's not smart.   Why would ebay not allow new bidders/buyers from being able to buy something on the site?  It makes no sense.

But you go on thinking that UK sellers used to be able to do that.

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

After reading all the messages here, am somewhat hesitant to post this, but here goes:  If, from the very beginning of eBay, sellers were allowed to block potential buyers who had less than 5 feedback, and 100% of sellers did so, how many buyers would there be on eBay today? Would eBay even exist?

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

last week I had a CSR show me the same thing, told me it woud block all  bidders with less than 5 feedback

I did  not have the heart to tell her she was wrong, was not up for a challenge

the lady was very helpful other wise but this just shows how easy it is to misunderstand that setting even of you are a CSR

thanks for putting that up there

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

I really think that ebay shoud do away with guest checkout

I have seen many buyers come to these boards with problems related to it

they have tried to use gift cards or pre paid cards and have gotten hung up and all I can think about is its because you are checking out as a guest.

its like a caste system, buyers who use guest checkout do not have the same rights as a full fledged member

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

@soh.maryl  YES.  We all started out at 0 FB.  Sellers sold to me with 0 FB and buyers bought from me with a very low FB number.  I have had buyers with thousands of feedback not pay.  As I posted, long time buyers tried to buy from me but were blocked because of too many strikes.  Systems are in place and they work if all sellers give strikes.

Yes, that is clear if it's given a moment's actual consideration and thought, isn't it?

But a lot of people apparently cannot understand what they're seeing there.  The "block buyers with a feedback score..." is indented because it is a subset or a suboption to the Buyer Requirements.  IF you check "Block buyers who are currently winning or have bought...", THEN you may use "Only set this requirement to block buyers with a feedback score..." as a secondary option to that choice.

There is not, and there never has been, an option to block buyers with fewer than 5 FB as a primary requirement, a stand-alone option.

I've had more success arguing with brick walls than I have in arguing with sellers about this, though.

Re: Remove Guest checkout option

Are the rules different in the UK about giving buyers false positives being a policy violation?
