Ebay took down my listing for a fairly complex unassembled mechanical piece with lots of sub-parts. I'd spent a lot of time on pictures of sub-parts and on researching & writing the description. My fatal flaw - and I get it - is that I'd used a manufacturer's photo of the assembled piece as a way to easily communicate to buyers what the finished thing would look like. Mfg'er complained so they took it down. My question is...do i have to start from scratch now? I didn't save my pictures or my description and the listing's not in either my Unsold or my Ended Items. It'll take me hours to get it all out and unpackaged again to take new photos. (Yes, I know....i should've saved the pictures till I sold it! Lesson learned. But for now....any way to get the listing back, even if just to copy the description?

Don't bother with worrying about making a new listing... because if you do after it's been taken down by a VERO member, you are NOW on their Radar and eBay will suspend you if you continue to try to relist.
Sell elsewhere.

Oh geez. Thanks for responding. Here's the thing. They only quoted the use of the mfg'r's photo as the objectional thing. So I was thinking that i could still use all of my pictures and my description, just not use the mfg'r's photo of the assembled thing. But you think they won't let me list it at all now that i'm on the hit list?

Again, this site is all AI (robotic). List that item again after getting smacked and you risk.

Generally, if it's a picture or a copyrighted term, you are allowed to relist without use of the intellectual property.
I had a VeRO removal of a Coach bag which I called a "baguette." Fendi filed and had the listing removed for use of the word because they owned the copyright. I was allowed to relist without using baguette. (And no, I didn't argue that there are lots of listings of baguettes that weren't Fendi.) I simply relisted and sold it by changing the description.
Personally, I never use nor recommend stock photos because buyers should see exactly what they're getting and the condition it's in.

I had a company complain with a ridiculously sniffy 'cease and desist' letter when I quoted (with attribution) a few lines from their website detailing some aspect of the bathrobe I was selling (yes, it was a bathrobe). I redid the listing with a paraphrase of that quote and no attribution. It went through fine.

In order to receive safe harbor immunity from liability for your infringement under the OCILLA act of the DMCA, eBay must remove the infringing content from their site completely.
So no, you cannot recover the listing. It is gone.

Where did you have the photos stored when you uploaded them to eBay.
If they were on a PC are they still located in your Recycle Bin?
There are undelete programs where you can recover files/pictures on a computer, or a memory card like in a phone or camara. Depending on how many files you have added to you divice the deleted photos may still be recoverable.

Actually if the warning you got was specific to only the pics, you may be able to create a new listing using only your pics. But I would first verify this with Ebay so you keep yourself out of trouble.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://twitter.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/eBay/
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

sometimes you can find a item with google, there are websites that scrape the listings and repost them on their own site,

If these items are used or extra parts you should just take your own photos. Stock photos can get you a SNAD and a return as well.

They are new, never used. But my question really is not about why i got the violation. I just want to know where can i find the listing that was taken down, so that I can at least harvest the description and the photos i took, so I can create a new, revised listing. any suggestions?

You can't, at least not on Ebay.
