Receiving an offer for an item- but item is not mine?

Receiving an offer for an item- but item is not mine? Clearly shows the seller.. Have I been hacked? or a glitch? This is a first...

In this case @redesignvintage, you are the buyer and the seller sent an offer for you to purchase at a reduced price.

Seller initiated offers are sent when someone has an item on their watch list, or when someone has viewed a listing multiple times which (to eBay) indicates interest.

Just curious:  How in the world did you figure that out?

I receive offers often on my items.. and this states.. " you have received an offer" and I am NOT watching this item, nor is item  mine listed.

I am not watching the item, and it came in as I get offers for items all the time.

"Clearly shows the seller" - I wonder if @redesignvintage clicked on an item 3 or more times and got an offer when the seller was simply sending out offers to the list of "Listings Eligible to Send Offers".

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.

Re: Receiving an offer for an item- but item is not mine?

You received an offer for an item that is not yours?

That can't be.

Does it let you respond/accept/reject the offer?

There are indeed offers that can be sent to prospective buyers who simply looked at the item without even putting it on their watch list. I've received them occasionally when browsing with my selling account, so if the offer looks interesting, I jump over to my buying account, view the listing, and then wait around for the offer to arrive. That strategy has worked for me more than once.

(On one occasion I declined the offer, then changed my mind, and had to log in to the spouse's account to trigger it over there and finally buy it.)

@redesignvintage

The offer you received is from the seller for a discounted price on an item you must have looked at.

If you go to the upper right and mouse over the bell or check your ebay messages, you'll see one of the following.

As said above @redesignvintage, you can get offers if you view a listing multiple times.

Check the wording on the eBay message. Subject: You have an offer from the seller...

Then when you open the message it will say:

Because you showed interest in this item, the seller sent you this private offer.

You can view a screenshot here.

Re: Receiving an offer for an item- but item is not mine?

My mistake.

I thought the OP was the seller and received an offer to buy a item that is not theirs.

I was thinking, how can that be?????
