Rants VS help seeking posts

I wonder what percent of all the posts here are actually rants/vents and what percent are help seeking posts. I’m sure those won’t add up to 100% as I didn’t include troll posts like this one I’m writing.

Re: Rants VS help seeking posts

You mean all the folks who say they were leaving Ebay but still sell on here?

All the class action lawsuit folks?

How about the folks who open up an account the same day and ask to buy their beautiful products from Sri Lanka?

All the folks who think it's a crime that Ebay collects fees on order processing?

LOL! I wonder why folks keep replying to these post a lot of times, despite the OP never returning.

I find it interesting that these random folks FIND these forums in the first place. I have to have them bookmarked, or else never be able to find them again (or it would take A LOT of time to figure out how to get here). But these folks provide entertainment, but it gets repetitive. Kind of like getting junk mail for the folks who owned our home 5 years ago

Re: Rants VS help seeking posts

Somewhat off point here, I am about to lose my mind over "My sales are down", "I'm leaving Ebay", "Fee's are too high". I get it sales are down everywhere. Leave Ebay I don't care, good luck finding a platform with no fees and that operates with zero issues. Try Amazon and see how ruthless they are.

Maybe I should have had 2 more cups of coffee before I wrote this heck I don't know. Lastly, I do like posts that bring value to all and where we all learn.

How about all the "conspiracy theory" posts lately.

It's amazing how many people out there truly think that ebay is out to get them.

If they think ebay is so evil, why do business with them?

I knew it.

You are an eBay Spy. Paid by eBay to live on a private island in Hawaii and spread eBay propaganda in the forums.

🙄

Do ebay spies get paid?

They get paid indirectly by having eBay suppress the listings of their competitors.

Even though their competitors are perfect sellers with high demand items in the best condition at the lowest prices around.

Re: Rants VS help seeking posts

When people rant, they get more replies, it seems.  lol  When people seek help, 'assistants' want a 15-page report.  😛

I do know that "Ebay sucks" is quite a popular rant. 😄

I’m mostly a lurker here, but have to stop after a while because my eyes start hurting from all the rolling they do.

Re: Rants VS help seeking posts

I don't post nearly as much as I used to because a lot of the OPs just don't want help.

They're right, even when they're totally wrong, and nothing anyone can say will change their mind.  Since they're not being told what they want to hear, we're all trolls, shills and Ebay employees.  I'm getting too old for that kind of crap so why bother anymore?

They don't want to hear the voice of experience, they want to hear the voice of agreement.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: Rants VS help seeking posts

@iamalwaysright  I like self-deprecating posts

"...troll posts like this one I’m writing..."

anyways....I agree with many of the responses....

"...They don't want to hear the voice of experience, they want to hear the voice of agreement.." stands out to me....

what i can't figure out is when a valid noob question is posted...one of the veterans responds within 5 minutes...an hour later there are 5 or 6 good answers to the original question...

and the OP has ghosted the thread....never returned, click a helpful, accepted an answer....it's like they forgot they posted......

I am always learning and helping out here helps me learn more stuff

Re: Rants VS help seeking posts

Then there are those posts that have, for example, are nothing but a 2 word title (ok some have a few more words but you get the idea), and we have to guess what they want to know because there is no information given in the body of the question.

You forgot the ones that pretend they want help so they can get people to look at their listings. A lame attempt at advertising.

I don't know if they still do, but the early authors of HOW TO GET RICH OVERNIGHT ON EBAY!  guides advised coming up with questions to ask on the forums as a way to get eyeballs on your listings.

Very true.  Many posters just want validation.  They do not want analysis or questions.  Their minds are closed to all views except their own.  And their guns are ready and loaded to shoot any messengers who suggest they bear any responsibility for the situations they're in.
