Raining Cats and Dogs...

RainRain

Days like this I am glad I do not have one-day shipping...this is our third day of rain.

Seems we are in the middle of the storm. This is the worst so far in 3 days.

Re: Raining Cats and Dogs...

We are just starting to get rain here in Dublin.   We did not get the atmospheric river the news media promised us.   As much as I had rain...I pray for a ton to fill all our reservoirs.

If you're hoping to fill California reservoirs ... forget about it.  We've had three wet winters in a row, and  the spigots are open right to the ocean ... to save those smelt fish.  People don't matter.

Look it up.  What's our 'normal' rainfall?

The drought broke in '22 .. and we've been wet since.  We've either had normal or above normal in '23 & '24.

Where's all the water going?

Lake Shasta in N. California in my backyard is the largest man-made lake in Cali, and the 8th largest in the nation.  It has been at 80% plus storage for three years, and there's a canal attaching north to south, and you guys in the south don't have enough water to fight a fire?   Don't you wonder about that?

Wouldn't it be fun to find out?

I, like you, am a native born Californian.

I was fortunate to grow up and thrive in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. You know I'm right.

What I see going on now makes me want to cry - and I admit, sometimes I do.

The last time I went to San Francisco was ... indescribably awful.  It hurt my heart.

It's like running into the high school football hero.  Remembering when he was young and strong, with bright eyes and a quick humor.   And when you bump into him ten years later, he's a burned out drug addict.  Open sores, smells awful, drooling and stupid ... not the guy you admired a decade ago.

It makes one sad to see that kind of self inflicted decay.

I miss California.

@chariot_badges

California native, as well. I can't disagree with anything you say.

Still a breathtakingly beautiful state with so much to offer, but it's run like a clown show.

Re: Raining Cats and Dogs...

I miss California too. (the way it was)

I live in Washington state and every summer on the coast I heard about not enough water. It rains over there over 6 months of the year and they can't figure out how to get more water without damage to salmon and steelhead runs. LOL Maybe dig a hole? It will fill up with water..........

I finally moved to a saner part of the state inland where it's arid high desert/prarie and we have water. Sagebrush, rattlesnakes etc. Go figure. Where there's a will there's a way.................

ooohhh @12345jamesstamps ....as they say, live in northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft...look like you didn't make it out, lol.

BTW, they also say live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard

Re: Raining Cats and Dogs...

So, living in Pacific Heights(great movie by the way) like half a block from the multi-millionaires it's quite nice where are streets are cleaned every Monday thanks to those people and also a half block from Lafayette Park it's rather nice. I drive a motorcycle so I see but don't see the ugliness of my city.

I think it depends where you live in your city. Every city has an ugly area. I don't live in it.

I live where the rain rolls down the street like a creek because I am in the middle of a hill. So there are no homeless by me.

My park has a doggie park(city spent millions to improve it) and children's playground...only because it's across the street where the millionaires live. The park is large enough to get lost in it...LOL

And with 'rent control' and free garage to put my bike init's like paradise to me.

Now what city can give me that half a block away from where I live where it doesn't snow, hail or have tornadoes, hurricanes or fires?

That was interesting and a nice response to the other poster talking about your city and the less fortunate.

Native Southern California OC'er here!  And one of the originals!  LOL!

I moved out 20 years ago and still miss a few things, but most things I do not.

Hoping for some snow tomorrow afternoon into Thursday.  So much fun!

Yea.....I once asked a rich friend why he could stand living in southern cal. with all the problems there. He responded that if you have money anywhere is a good place to live.

Not so much for the rest of us though.........................

Re: Raining Cats and Dogs...

I think many of us are experiencing unusual weather happenings.  Way too many of us and they are harsh.  We have extremely cold weather which is odd for us in most years.  The last couple of days we have had snow.  Not a usual thing either this time of year.  Now we never got a lot of snow, just a tease every few hours for a couple of days and no serious problems.

I'm just saying that it appears this winter has been different weather than most of us across the nation are use to this time of year.

You might  sell more if you had 1 day shipping "top shelf delivery" is well accepted  by buyers that  have paid for their  purchases.  All that rain messes up the hairdos too.  Umbrellas are a great invention.
