You choose if you want to promote or not, you choose the percentage you want to charge. eBay did not take your money; you gave it to them.

@jdfns68 wrote:If it is my mistake ,why Ebay when we choose the Promoted Listings Standard stopped writing how much the ad rate corresponds to dollars? So we will know how much the promotion will cost us,and it will be our responsibility how much ad rate we choose.
If you don't understand percentages, then you need to stay away from using promotions.

yep, around 25% is what ebay is taking from international sellers, not including their own spiffy exchange rate, packing and postage costs.
A beauty.

You aren't saying that the $30 you lost by paying $90 and then selling for $60 is part of your eBay fees, are you?

...part of your lost from currency exchange...
...I'm not a fan of selling to international buyers...but it's just me...!!!

Yes, this is the road eBay has taken to get into the plus column.

No ,i bought the ring $90.00 and sold it $60.00 because it was pre owned and i earned $ 3.00

I'm not real smart, so I can not do the math on this.
What "ad rate %age" did you set that resulted in a charge of EUR 40.11, and how much did you expect the %age to cost you?
It seems that you set a very high ad rate.

You paid $40 EU for an AD FEE; which is PROMOTIONS.
Therefore, you option (you chose) to use 55% Promotion fee.

Maybe,if I stay away from the promotions with the prevailing situation I am not going to sell anything.it is a necessary thing..

Indeed, I wanted to "impersonate" the merchant and I set 50%, I hoped to get half. I had the ring for a long time and I wanted to give it.

Sorry that you did not understand that a 50% ad rate would not give you 50% of the total sale.
50% of everything to eBay, then deduct expenses leaves the seller with little.
Wishing you better results in future sale.

FYI- no merchant on the planet gives anything CLOSE to 50%. Not sure why you though that; there is just too much competition, unless there is a person willing to sell a $100 item and clear $5 like you did; which I seriously doubt there is anyone doing that on purpose.
10% Promo Fee would be considered VERY HIGH; after Shipping Costs, Final Value Fees' etc.

Looks like you misinterpreted what those 50% on Promotions means — its not 50/50, it means they'll take 50% + 25% fees and all "international" extras.
