That's not even legal!!!

The only way ebay can control ALL the pricing on here is IF THEY OWN ALL THE PRODUCTS.

Which they don't.

It's not legal for ebay to dictate what prices we sell our products for. Except for national emergency items.

All other items are not any of ebay's business.

Thats what i thought, its simply supply and demand, we dont force buyer to buy at that price, if the like the price they will buy if not they should just move on.

Of course, i dont sell fake items, all legit. Sold 5 or 6 of them and the last one got removed.

No, no......... I wasn't accusing you of selling something fake..........I was just trying to figure out what the "typical" price of the item was when it was first sold.  I have no problem with anyone selling it way above orig price IF buyers will pay it.  We sold the Magazine that announced Hillary Clinton President that was accidentally released for $150-175, orig cost was $10..........  THAT wasn't price gouging, it was a limited # available, people were willing to pay big Bucks........which to me is capitalism.

Could you imagine the response you'd get if you went into an antiques shop and told the owner that the Tiffany lamp they have priced at $3,000 only costed $300 when it was new 50 years ago. Therefore, they are price gouging!

Chances are you'd be shown the door.

I'm aware of that. Released in April and sol out already? And of course the Parks aren't open right now.

I wasn't  talking about what they're selling for, but what the rrp was when released which is what another poster asked.

Re: Price gouging for Minnie Mouse The Main Attraction Ear Headband Mad Tea Party

All right, so then how are they going to determine prices for things that don't HAVE retail prices?

For instance, I sell crane game prize figures.  They don't have retail prices because they aren't available for retail sale-- they're prizes that you win out of crane games. The market determines their value by the popularity of the character and the scarcity of that particular prize.  Some are worth significantly more than others-- for instance, Kimetsu no Yaiba figures always go for a lot because it's an extremely popular series that everyone wants the prizes from, and they aren't usually released in huge numbers.  Sword Art Online is popular too but they release huge numbers of those prizes, so they're worth a lot less because they're so common.

I would like to know how eBay plans to determine a fair market value for items where the market is literally what determines the value in the first place.

The only thing we can think of is they are running scared of the states Attorney Generals........we looked at the PA law and it doesn't call out "essential items", just that anything over 20% over prices before the emergency......and with some indication they may go after things below that..........

We all know Ebay has never limited prices on anything...so there's got to be a reason...

I looked it up.  They release these each month in a very limited amount.  They sell them at Disney theme parks and on-line.  They retail for $34.99, but this is something that when it gets released that day, it sells out that day.

Instead of pushing for the "limited release/collectible" Minnie Mouse ears, someone can go order one on Disney that has tons of other Minnie Mouse ears in different designs readily available for $29.99.

Yes and this OP is not alone:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/eBay-removed-my-video-game-listing-for-price-gouging/m-p/30819...

This one got fixed- after a few days it seems. It's just amazing that eBay can't seem to get ANYTHING right EVER...

@Anonymous - can you help?

Hi @gramophone-georg, if anyone has a listing removal they have questions about they are welcome to review the email they received for additional details or appeal options, or they can contact Customer Service to discuss the removal in more detail.

@Anonymous

The problem is people are reporting various answers from Customer Service.

One was told the price was gouging.........and then received an apology saying it should not have been removed.

Another was told anything above double MSRP would be considered gouging.

Another was told anything above "the typical Price" was gouging.  Typical price when?  When it was originally sold at retail.....what the solds say, what the current prices are (on ebay)?

No one has any guidance from Ebay about this......just a bunch of reported CS Answers........We are all scared we are going to run afoul of a rule that is undefined as far as anyone can find........

Is there no help for this?  We just list and take our chances?

well why doesn't eBay tell everyone what the official policy is, so we don't have to wait until we get an email with a violation to know what we did wrong.

And don't you feel like we all just got scolded and sent to our rooms?

Sorry, I'm too old to be scolded by anyone at the other end of a computer.

Sellers have said that the CS answers are conflicting.  There's an awful lot of bull being shoveled at sellers.  Everyone is asking for open answers as to what this is all about.  Those canned responses are kind of disrespectful considering the amount of chaos going on.

It sure would be nice if someone would just tell us WTH is happening.

Just saying.......
