Price Gouging

Do these sellers realize that price gouging is illegal? I mean, $1,000.00 for 1 ounce of USED hand sanitizer while our nation is facing virus that is killing people is not just wrong, it's illegal. Then there is the fact that as fast as eBay is taking them down they are slipping by, by relisting them time & time again. With the above mentioned item being used, it is potentially not safe anyways. I just don't get how these people are going out buying up as much as they can, keeping it out of the hands of those who fall in the at risk groups & then thinking they will get rich while people are at risk of dying! I just find it really sad that some go that low in our nation. I just really want to know why are these items still for sell on eBay & still being allowed to be posted?

Re: Price Gouging

Found masks for sale in several Walmarts today, stacks of masks, less than $1 a mask. Found N95 masks for sale at another store, 2 for $4.99. The supply is catching up, I hope the ebay sellers lose on their garage full of inventory.

Re: Price Gouging

eBay makes a profit off the sales, therefore there is little incentive to track down the black marketeers.

What section were they selling them in, because I've seen none at the WM around here.

Re: Price Gouging

They we at an end cap on an isle, near the first aid products, probably 20-30 boxes of 20 masks for $17.99. Still plenty to be had. Found a large supply of 2 pack N95 masks at another store, $4.99 per 2 pack.

Re: Price Gouging

Bought two of the large cans of Lysol spray yesterday, Paid $10.99 for the two pack. I see they are still going for upward of $50 a can on Ebay. Such a moral dilemma, price gouge with Ebay's blessing or be a good human? Hmmm, had two more pass away at a nursing home yesterday. Such a hard decision.

Re: Price Gouging

In more good news for the non black market people out there, 5 pack of Clorox wipes at Costco this morning for $14.99. Also hand sanitizer, several pallets full. Slowly putting the squeeze on the black market Ebay sellers.

Re: Price Gouging

Disinfectant wipes and sprays starting to show up at more and more stores. Masks and gloves and hand sanitizers also, soon the squeeze will be on the eBay black market. Can't wait to see the profits plummet next quarter.

All of the stuff I can find easily now and I live in New York so I see no reason for a ban anymore on anything! Never did!

That is wonderful for you, but for some of us our areas are still out of stock on many essential things.  We still don't even a steady supply of TP much less many of the other things.

Re: Price Gouging

Well you have been on the report everyone you can find since March so even if y’all had the stock you would still be scouring items to report I have no doubt!

Telling people that are complaining about certain listings they find to report the seller for price gouging is neither a "march" or "scouring" for items to report.  I get it that you don't like this practice.  But the simple act of reporting a listings for whatever reason another member feels the need to do so does NOT get that listing removed or the seller sanctions.  Those actions are ONLY because Ebay determines the seller is doing something they shouldn't be doing.

So YES I have said for other members to report items if they feel the need.  But your description of what I've said is completely exaggerated.

Re: Price Gouging

Sounds like someone who was involved in the price gouging. Hope you have a lot of inventory left over.

Re: Price Gouging

Just checked ebay, lot of 5 cans of Lysol spray sold for $299 w/ $25 shipping. No price gouging here, nothing to see, move along. Get the word out, this stuff is in stores at regular prices. Shut these ebay black marketeers down.
