Post Office closing

If the Post Office is closed down--at least partially in the fall-- by congress, how will that effect your business?

Trump is not the fault of corona virus period !! It lies in the fault of past the administration weakness to deal with the country of origin where it came from. They have been robbing this country for decades and between them and the WHO whom helped them cover up this mess is the reason not Trump. Thank God he was smart enough to put the travel ban on when he did and it just simply goes to show how important it is to have strong borders. Ask a native American if they wished their ancestors had stronger borders !!!! Bet I know the answer !!!! Trump 2020

Oh trust me, I don't hold the virus responsible for that. I'm not that cold.

had to check the web address in my browser window--reading through some of the comments, thought i had clicked over to the Fox News forums by accident...lol

on the topic, i can't imagine congress would let the usps fold--though i wouldn't be surprised if they demanded some sweeping changes in the postal system as a condition for funding...

The House has already passed a bill for needed changes - that's DeFazio's bill - it's being held up in the senate, despite bipartisan authoring and approval in the House.  I can't find progress on it, anywhere.  Given that corporations basically run things in this country, I have a sneaking suspicion hopes of privatization and a lucrative contract may be in the mix somewhere.

Not only will they (Congress) not shut down the USPS but they HAVE to keep it going otherwise how will they push through the MAIL-IN VOTING they are trying to shove at us. Can't have mail-in voting without the mail part.

That photo has been turned into some hilarious memes (sorry, if I didn't laugh I would cry).

China isn't the reason the Post Office is under financial duress. Congress has mandated that the Post Office honor their retirees their full benefits.  https://about.usps.com/who-we-are/financials/annual-reports/fy2010/ar2010_4_002.htm

If I was a Post Office retiree I'd want my full benefits, but be that as it may, blaming China for everything is an obvious ploy to deflect responsibility.  The responsibility of keeping the Post Office afloat sits squarely on the shoulders of congress and the president.

Fortunately this is only part time and isn't make a lot of money for me. I don't think I would even sell on here, I'd probably up the prices of shipping to UPS prices and then not really add any listings. I'd also cancel my ebay store account. Sorry guys, sucks to suck.

I also can't see why that would happen when we vote in the fall for president/senate/bills/congress etc. this year ..

They can't let it shut down or it'll be complete anarchy.

It won't just affect us, either, it'll affect the other 190 or so countries in the UPU, AND will affect mail coming into the country because there will no longer be a contract, terminal dues, etc.

I don't think the USPS will shut down, but I don't believe they get a big bailout from the govt. either. Not when every sector of the economy has their hand out asking for trillions of $ the govt. doesn't really have...

They'll probably jack up rates for letters & small packages to just under what UPS & FEDEX charge. That combined with the ruined economy will cut their volume even more. Then they can maybe downsize, staying around but being a shell of their former self.
