Post Office closing

If the Post Office is closed down--at least partially in the fall-- by congress, how will that effect your business?

I bet fedex is hoping that nothing happens to the usps seeing they are FedEx's  biggest customer that makes them about 1.5 billion yearly.

USPS has just been granted a $10 Billion loan that should be enough to keep them operating until at least June 2021.  They should also be getting a little relief drom the price of gas.  So perhaps we can now shut this rumor that the post office is closing down, and vote out in November those two idiots in Congress that started it.

I'd still like to know this answer.    I see people taking about fake news all the time, but I never see who are the non-fake news.

Was more than a rumor. Last week, Trump himself threatened to veto any bill that had funding for the USPS.

I guess someone finally told him that if he thinks USPS can wither and die for whatever silly grudge he has with Bezos/Amazon - and perhaps fantasies of suppressing mail-in votes without a working postal system - that he'd hang himself because literally Amazon would just acquire the postoffice, in a great twist of irony.

Amazon Postal Service has a ring to it, no? So yeah, post office isn't going anywhere, thank god.

yep they are fake news as well, be smart enough to listen to them then do the fact checking and you will see where they come up short. It is really simple ! They just do not like Trump so they are full of half truths and lies ! I have seen it over and over and it does not take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

Again, I'm not asking which you consider fake news.  I'm asking whom you think are accurate.

Im still laughing at what youve got for an answer so far: According to him ALL the following are 'fake news' - ALL of them:

MSNBC
CNN
ABC
CBS
NBC

ALL those organizations employing HUNDREDS of reporters who ALL somehow manage to come up with the same 'fake news' but only about certain politicians in one political arena it seems. Unless maybe - just maybe - they are reporting independently verifiable facts? Wouldnt it be easier to report facts - as opposed to having to sit around and make up fake stuff all the time - plus be sure that you are reporting the same fake stuff as all the other 'fake news' organizations?

And lets not forget international services like the BBC. Im sure they would be considered 'fake news' as well. All because one politician calls them 'fake news' and a bunch of credulous followers all nod their heads.

So getting back to the topic here - its totally unrealistic to think that the PO would simply close one day. Its really about the most 'essential business' there is in this country outside of the health care workers. Yes the government might have to bail them out to keep the doors open and the mail flowing - but thats because the alternative would be basically unthinkable.

I hope you are correct.   I just heard again today how the President says he will not sign any bail out virus money for them unless they raise their prices four fold.   He calls them a joke.  So maybe they will survive, but will we?  I doubt many of my items would sell with a 4x increase in postage.

They want the USPS to go away so people cannot vote by mail. Several prominent Republicans have lately said the quiet part out loud. That is they allow people to easily vote, more Republicans will lose.

Yes, I've heard that too.  So that, in addition to the President's dislike of Amazon/Bezos, where he wants to hurt them by forcing USPS to raise the rates, doesn't give me confidence.  Also many see dollar signs with privatization.   Old norms and the needs of others don't always win out.

Yeah, even Trump said that.  I was surprised at the honesty of that remark.

All this started making more sense to me when I realised that, rightly or wrongly, for the WH everything, everything, at this time is viewed through the prism of the Next Election.  The rest is collateral.
