I moved from a non-sale state (OR) to a sale state (TX) 3 months ago and haven't sold anything for the last 5-6 months. Trying to sell an item today but they permanently restricted me from selling. I called Ebay they told me that i'm banned because they sent me 2 emails asking to update sale tax options in my account and i didn't meet their deadline. I didn't see their emails due to Gmail moved them in spam box because Ebay keeps sending me their ads and promotion emails weekly. Is there anyway to lift this restriction? Thanks

30 days. You have enough time to do the appropriate changes to your tax collection for other states. Keep calling and asking what to do.
Good luck!

"Because no updates were made to your tax table and no sales tax permits have been provided, your account has been restricted from selling for 30 days."
Can you update that requested information now? Then talk to ebay.

My account is already permanently restricted as today. That email was in my spam folder on Feb 15, 2019 so it's passed 30 days. I talked to them and they won't lift it. I've been with them over 15 years. I can't believe they banned me for this kind of reason. So sad

Usually permanent banned seller accounts can still use the account to buy with. Have you tried to sign in and see if they give you any sellers areas to look at?
On Wed. at 1pm PDT eBay has a weekly chat where you can ask questions and get them answered by eBay staff. I would consider attending that chat session and participate with your issue. Here is a link to the weekly chat board

While email can be a nice reminder, there are dozens of moving parts between eBay and your inbox that eBay does not control.
Email is not a substitute for logging into your eBay account and checking your eBay messages. Gmail did not remove your eBay messages - you simply chose not to check them.

That's odd. There are dozens of websites from which I receive emails several times a week, and gmail never automatically sends them to my spam folder. Are you sure you didn't direct gmail to do that by blocking/filtering eBay's emails? Gmail sends very few emails to my spam folder automatically, and they're usually ones like, "foragoodtime@youknowwheretoreachme.com," not something like "ebay.com." In the however many years I've had a gmail account, I've had maybe twenty emails that gmail has sent to my spam folder on its own.
In order to prevent this happening in the future, you may want to add ebay.com to your "Add Sender to Safe Senders List."

I don't understand the message itself........... Oregon has no sales tax, so you weren't collecting any I assume. You haven't (?) listed or sold anything for 6 months, but you added Sales tax to be collected for Tx?

I would have thought ANY important message from ebay would appear in my ebay messages? I sure hope that is the case because I seldom check my email because it`s ALWAYS junk.

The message actually sounds like you were collecting sales tax in other states. If you moved to Texas and haven't sold anything in 5-6 months how would your sales tax collection change?
All eBay messages come through eBay and email so it should have been in eBay messages.

That's why i couldn't understand why they restricted my account. I didn't sell anything after moving to TX and NEVER collected any tax from buyers since i opened this ebay account over 10 years ago.

EBay can connect different accounts by means of IP addresses, similar addresses, emails, etc and perhaps you are using the same IP address as another seller eBay has issues with?

That is not the case. My 2nd account is restricted a day after this account. I only used the 2nd account to buy stuff, rarely sold any item and never collected any sale tax. The main reason for this restriction is that i didn't update the sale tax option on my main account within the time frame stated in their emails even though i never collected any sale tax on both accounts.

So after updating your new address. (from non to a sale tax state) The ebay system auto sent out emails asking to update the tax option in your account within xx days (your account is already restricted from selling for xx days at this point). If you don't comply within that time frame all your accounts will get permanently restricted.
