Paypal fees...look through every transaction? This is what they're telling me. Oi..

I just got off the phone with paypal. I have a personal account on there, which I need to switch to business, but I needed to run  some reports. I wanted to see how I could easily itemize shipping fees, paypal fees, ebay fees, etc, for tax purposes. She is telling me that I have to go through every single transaction and add up the PP fees myself. Is this true? I have over 1000 and that would take forever to do. Can anyone tell me how I can do this more efficiently? Or is there no way? In today's computer age there HAS to be a better way. Thanks!

Yes, I got a 1099k but they're telling me the detailed reports can be found with a business account. It will track your totals for refunds, etc

Well it is completely up to you.  You can go by what you have been told or you can utilize some of the advice and information provided on this thread as to where you CAN get that information.  Complete with screen shots for ease.  But completely your decision to make.

Try this.  I don't have a Business account, I have a Premier account (not available from PayPal anymore, it looks just like a Personal account). I don't have a Reports link to click, but this will take me to the Reports page, the same as a Business account.

You should try this, and if it doesn't work for you, then you may need to upgrade to a Business account. I don't really know of any disadvantages to doing this, the main advantage is having access to reports like this. But I don't know if the reports would be available retroactively.

Click on Activity, and then Statements (you may need to increase the size of your browser window to see the Statements link):

On the next page, click on "Custom":

Then click on Activity Download, and that takes me to a page that looks just like the page shown in the earlier reply:

It is my understanding that PP only has two types of accounts now.  Business and Personal.  I believe this was a change last year.  Now I may be wrong here, but I think Premier accounts were changed to Business accounts.

If you have a PP cash or cash plus account, then you do have a personal account.  If you don't, it is a business account.

Sorry, but you have misunderstood. My Premier account was NOT changed to a Business account, and I was never even offered that as an option.

You can't open a Premier account any more, and if you had one before, it looks like a Personal Account now (comparing to screenshots that have been posted). PayPal didn't inform me about any change, at the time.

So, my Premier account now looks like a Personal Account, and I don't have the links in the header to access Reports or Seller Tools (which I used to have, and which Business Accounts still have). However, I can still access Reports and Seller Tools, I just have to know how to find them, which I figured out by trial and error. It wasn't changed to a Personal Account, although it looks like one. It was Grandfathered (still exists as a Premier account, although you can't open them anymore).

Other members who had Premier Accounts have confirmed that they can access PayPal Reports as well. I've only heard from one member who had a Personal account who checked, and said that they could not access the reports so they planned to upgrade to a Business account to get the reports.

All Premier accounts were changed to Personal accounts in 2018. PayPal did not notify us- they did it quietly behind the scenes when they implemented the other changes that year. They confirmed the change to sellers who asked by calling in, posting on their FB page and forums.

I don't know why you tagged me on the above post since you appear to agree with what I wrote above- I found these old posts as a reference.

My Premier account was converted to a Personal Cash Plus account- I lost several options I had at the Premier level including the ability to change my business name as it appears on the buyer's end and the ability to edit payment blocks.

I can access reports the way slippinjimmy outlined the process above- through the activity tab. I have spoken with several other sellers who used to have Premier accounts and their experience is the same as mine.

Hi @coffeebean832,

I wasn't agreeing with you actually, because I believe that my Premier Account is still a Premier Account. I don't think it has been changed to a Personal Account (although it looks like one), because I can still access Seller tools, and block some payment methods. I just checked the other day, and I can still block international payments, and payments from the "Send money" service of PayPal. IIRC, these are the same blocks that Business Accounts have.

I'm not sure what you  meant by "edit payment blocks" ... is that what I described above? If so, I checked it a day or two ago, and I was able to access it by clicking on the gear icon, and then on "Seller tools". I didn't see a way to change the merchant name that is shown to buyers, though.

I didn't think that a regular Personal Account could access "Seller tools", and that's why I think that the former Premier accounts are still different from a Personal account.
