I've decided to put my store on vacation mode for the month of December due to delays in shipping. This morning a customer contacted my about an item past due delivery, was shipped First Class a seven days ago-- tracking shows no activity. A forum search of recent discussions revealed many sellers complaining of severe delays in shipping. This makes sense with new disruptive Post Master rules, more people shopping online from pandemic lockdowns, postal workers calling in sick with covid, and the surge of holiday orders, the postal system is now overwhelmed. I've refunded the buyer, and will resume selling in January.

I don't think it is just a shortage of planes. One of the changes made by our crackerjack Postmaster General several months ago was to divert a lot of first class and media mail to trucks only. It took 4 weeks for a media mail package to go 35 miles within the state of Florida in September - first class mail from the east coast of Florida to the west coast of Florida took 10 days. Fortunately my buyers were patient.
I am also closed down until the 25th. For the past 10 years I closed down 10 days before Christmas - this year I ended all my listings early in the morning of Dec. 7th.

I DO NOT have a store. As such, is that a way to close down during this mess WITHOUT removing and then re-listing my 144 items?
Thanks to all who respond to my problem. I had 16 sales mailed, but not scanned for almost two weeks between 11/26 and 12/07. Fortunately for me, while I did receive three inquiries, I have not, as yet, had cancellations.

Same here. Also in the Chicago burbs. I've got 10 packages in limbo since around Thanksgiving. I've closed up my ebay store until after the holidays. Too bad, but I'm not chancing any more potential INR cases. At this point, I don't think things are going to get better in the next few weeks, and I'm not willing to risk losing hundreds of dollars to find out.

I have several USPS FC packages that are late. Closed down selling for a month or two. Can anyone with more sense than me explain why eb does not adjust EDD's at least 3-7 days later??? What happened to eb's saying of "We've got your back?"

Good news! eBay recently replaced the stores-only "Vacation" setting with an option called "Time Away" that is available to all sellers. There are some differences, but the main features are the same as the old vacation: Hide your listings so you have no sales while it's turned on.

Shipping is certainly a **bleep** shoot these days. Cookbook shipped Media Mail Los Angeles to Midland TX this past Friday arrived to buyer Monday. First Class package picked up by my mailman on Tues Dec 1st had no notation beyond "Picked Up" until the morning of the 7th (I was sweating that one); at least it now shows as being in New Jersey, the buyer's state. In the past I've changed to 10 day shipping on about the 15th, but still go to the PO during that time as the mood hits me. Haven't decided what to do yet this year -- may try that new "time away" if I can figure out how to find that option, or just remove everything and relist on the 22nd.

I am seeing adjusted EDDs for my sales? All of the First Class packages that I shipped yesterday are showing EDDs of 4-7 days out instead of the usual 2-4.

If eBay were to extend the buyers expected date you may have the customer not purchase then, No sale for you means not FEES for feeBay.

Yeah, I just checked mine and all listing have "expected delivery by" dates extended to December 16...that's both first class (the vast majority) and the one or two Priority Mail packages. The oldest ones were mailed on November 30th (though they sat waiting to get processed for a day). I'm assuming I owe a thank you to eBay for stepping up. And thanks for your post--I wouldn't have checked that tonight, and instead would have tossed and turned all night worrying about INR payouts.

Get the basic plan, It's like $5.95 a month. You get the "away" function as well as markdown manager. Well worth it.

@jack_bucks_ghost
I first noticed it the other day when I was checking the tracking for that one Priority Mail package that was delayed... I figured I would check on my other packages too and noticed that their EDDs were much later than I had been expecting, so it's been going on for at least a few days now.

The new-ish "Time Away" option is available to all sellers, including those who don't have a Store subscription.

There are 400 trailers of mail sitting at Detroit right now, according to my po source.
