Hello everyone,
I received an order but requested the buyer to cancel it due to unavoidable reasons. But he already tried to cancel it. But when he tried to cancel it, he got an error. He wants to cancel this. If I cancel this on my end, it will affect my eBay seller performance, so I am reluctant to do so. What should I do for this?
Thank you.

Customer cannot cancel this order (only seller). If you cancel order and give reason "buyer wants to cancel" you will not get a defect on your account.
But this is a lie. The buyer did not request the cancelation and they can also report the seller.

it happened like that . The buyer did not request the cancelation.

How can I do that anyway ? did you say no choice to cancel the order?

Go to your Orders Screen. Locate the order. On the left there should be a blue arrow for a drop down menu. Click on that and select Cancel Order.

I realize that I was responding to caldreamer post telling the OP to cancel using buyer requested. This is OP's issue and they need to cancel the order using item out of stock.

Okay, then that's different.
If the buyer asked to cancel you can cancel it as 'buyer requested' without any harm to your account.

But apparently the buyer DID try to cancel the order but couldn't so asked the seller to cancel.

To quote the OP "The buyer did not request the cancelation."

And to also quote the OP "the buyer tried to cancel but got an error message and then contacted me". (or words to that effect).

What were the "unavoidable reasons" for cancelling this order?

YOU WILL STILL GET A DEFECT ! And maybe a restriction to boot.
You said: I received an order but requested the buyer to cancel it due to unavoidable reasons.
So basically you are looking to get the order cancelled. If you choose "buyer requested" eBay will find out you are lying about the reason you will get hit twice as hard. How will they know? Well I assume you exchanged emails with your buyer through eBay messaging. You do realize they have access to all that.
MAN UP - YOU made the mistake - take responsibility for it.

BUT the only reason the buyer tried to cancel is because the seller tried to pull a fast one. Look at the seller's FULL quote. It was the seller (OP) who wanted to cancel

One is not going to hurt your account.
If you are drop shipping, you need to put in the extra work DAILY and make sure your inventory is correct. It is a lot of work, but necessary if you want to do this right. I did it for years and every day I checked my available inventory.
You should ask your supplier if they have an exception report you can get emailed to you. What they contain is new stock coming in, things that have gone out of stock, and any pricing changes on existing inventory.

Yes, I see that now. The OP ASKED the buyer to cancel but (of course) the buyer couldn't.
The posts from the OP were a little confusing.
So I go back to my first post where I said "It's YOUR mistake, so YOU take the hit"

You asked the buyer to cancel?...not good. This is the down side of drop shipping. Were you out of stock? One too many of those will jeopardize your account. This will no doubt happen again since you do not have the items in your possession. I would sure re think this risky business platform or it's going to be too late. Be careful.
