Hello everyone,
I received an order but requested the buyer to cancel it due to unavoidable reasons. But he already tried to cancel it. But when he tried to cancel it, he got an error. He wants to cancel this. If I cancel this on my end, it will affect my eBay seller performance, so I am reluctant to do so. What should I do for this?
Thank you.

Of course, it will affect your account, which is reasonable because it's your fault you have to cancel.

However, it appears that it's the SELLER who needs to cancel. Buyer is NOT asking to cancel.

How it affects you will depend on the seller's sales volume. If a seller has a lower sales volume one cancellation for out of stock will affect a seller more than one that sells more items. The threshold for Top Rated is .50% or 1 out of 200 items sold. I cancel maybe 1 or 2 items for out of stock most months but I sell more than 1,000 items per month so 1 or 2 does not affect me. Some months I cancel zero but never ore than 2.
However, if a seller sells 50 items then canceling 1 item is 2% of sales which would be an issue.

Thank you. I'm aware of how the program works. The OP asked about how this ONE would affect them, I wasn't answering the question for everyone, just the OP.
As for your concerns. There are also specific minimums before defects will negatively impact your status. I suggest you study up on that. Here is just a snip.
"You'll only be evaluated as Below Standard if your transaction defects are associated with more than 4 different buyers."
