Should I be nervous and suspicious of this buyer?

Hello fellow eBay'ers

 I don't sell a lot of items. I'm just one person selling my personal items, so I do not have as much experience as most of you other sellers. But I just sold an item to some buyer who's profile shows they live in Canada. So my item is being shipped to the international hub. Which I have done many times with no problems.

But the thing that throws up a red flag is. This buyer has been a member for over 4 years, But they have 0 feedback. Is that something I should be suspicious about?

Just means they hadn't gotten feedback for 12 months. You should be able to pull up total amount of feedback they have recieved by looking at thier profile on the computer,  instead of the app. Honestly,  feedback doesn't mean much anyway as far as a buyer goes, because they can only get positive.  Every once in awhile you may run accross one where sellers put in false positive as a means to try to worn other sellers of the buyer.

Yeah, periodic buyer, just comes here when they need something specific, for instance, or just hasn't purchased anything in the last year.

@li97eaglespu

I've sold to '0' users and have never had a problem with them. To me, the right buyer finally sat down to my item. Boom.

With that being said, I'd be scared to death to sell what you sold, anyway. And with that  being said... good luck to you.

@li97eaglespu

They just might be a casual buyer and sellers never got around to leaving them feedback.  Happens a lot.  You should be ok if it goes thru eBay's shipping hub.  Always a good idea to be cautious especially in this day and age & with all the scammers. Congrats on your sale. I'm sure it will go fine for you.

Happy Selling.

I was looking at their profile on the computer My desktop PC.  There is nothing there except the Location: Canada & Member since: Apr 19, 2019

In other words they have never had any feedback. Now they buy my high dollar item.

And we all should know that those false positives, no matter what their intent, are against the rules and could earn defects for the sellers who left them.

Yea, I know. I don't ever do that, just said some sellers do it.

@li97eaglespu  Sometimes people set up accounts and then don't do anything with them.

They may have set up the account to bid in an auction they didn't win.

     Not really an issue since you are shipping through EIS. Once the item arrives at the hub in Chicago your responsibility has been completed and you are pretty much covered by eBay.

You should be aware that your Canadian buyer is in a different country, with a different banking system. We even have our own currency! And probably a king, but we haven't really decided about that.

What this means for you is that you will be charged a fee on the International sale, just as I am when I sell to someone in your country.

If you are referring to the international fee that has been waived when the seller is utilizing the EIS program.

Thanks. But I am not worried the shipping aspect. I'm worried that after the buyer receives the item, they will lie, and claim it is "not as described". And open a case. Then eBay will have them return the item for a full refund. And instead of sending me the item I sold to them, they will send me another one that's the same make & model but broken, or they will send me a box of rocks. And since their outside USA, I will not have any legal recourse.

That is a big problem with eBay, They will rule in favor of the dishonest buyer almost every time.

eBay is 100% based on trust & honesty. Show me a half way honest person and I'll show you a half way dishonest person.
