Non payment buyers

Looking for tips for non payment buyers. I currently have it set for Ebay to cancel mine. I think they relist them automatically also. Is this better or should I do it myself after day 4? I want to make sure they get their ding strike for non payment. Also, Is there a spot to see this on a buyers page? I never seem to see it.

What I also do is add them as a blocked buyer. It always seems like buyers who make me an offer or accept one are the ones who fail to pay.

Basically, what's the best way for me to make sure I'm doing the best to alert other sellers?

Re: Non payment buyers

You appear to be doing everything right.

Many people here will encourage you to stop running auctions and use buy it now/fixed price/immediate payment required.

You'll never have this problem again.

Re: Non payment buyers

The buyer will only receive that ding if you cancel for non payment after the four days. If you cancel prior to that then they get away with no demerit. It is vital that sellers wait the four days and cancel correctly using the non payment to get that strike on the account. That is how you stop these people from doing this to other sellers. Best of luck to you....

As log as you do it, they get the ding. Whether you do it automatically or manually does not matter. Neither does whether you wait 8 days instead of 4.

No. You simply set up the blocks in your buyer requirements. Because some nonpayments are JUSTIFIED.

You can't do anything other than complete the nonpayment process and give then strikes.

That is because they do not require payment. I believe buyers make multiple offers and choose the best deal. Then they ignore the rest.

Ebay changed that. I just made an offer a couple days ago and had to add my payment BEFORE the offer would go through.

Re: Non payment buyers

I've recently experienced buyers who BAIL OUT on a purchase in the middle of CHECKING OUT.  The seller will hear the cash register ding & and see 👀 the item SOLD: What the seller will NOT receive is payment from this type of buyer.  The cash register sound effect should only indicate PAYMENTS RECEIVED and never merely items sold👎.  NON-PAYMENT CANCELLATIONS are still a drag on eBay because sellers lose approx .60 cents due to non-refundable fees.   Also cancelling no-pays is still several steps - too lengthy imo.  Ebay should really fix this so when an item is SOLD & PAYMENT IS RENDERED, I can do my half smile again🙂.  FULL SMILES I RESERVE FOR 1 WEEK AFTER DELIVERY W/ NO CUSTOMER COMPLAINT🤩.

Re: Non payment buyers

I should've prefaced w/ stating all items for sale are BUY IT NOW + REQUIRE IMMEDIATE PAYMENT.  Hence the reason why BUYERS BAIL in the midst of checking out.  Buyer NEVER completes checkout w/ payment, yet the same item is NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR REAL PAYING BUYERS👎???  Items should NOT be removed from availability until PAYMENT IS RENDERED.  eBay inflating their sales numbers a bit.🤔👎

Re: Non payment buyers

Hi @ca42388

Mine is set for manual Cancellation.  I sell a lot Auction style and sometimes either before an auction ends or after a Buyer asks for extra time to pay so I work with them.  I also do NOT use Best Offer so I don't get stuck with non payments there.

I schedule when my Auctions end but that does not mean it is always convenient for Buyers, thus my flexibility on that score.  If a Buyer does not message me I send a reminder one day before the 4th day to let them know a cancellation after 4 days will result in an Unpaid item strike on their account per eBay policy ... that either gets them moving to pay or they wind up as a non payer.  I currently have 3 in the last 90 days so that's not a deal breaker considering the items have already sold since the non payment cancellation dates.

Should read; eBay is considering changing that, they are experimenting with a small minority of buyers making offers which requires a valid payment method in advance.

Until eBay finishes their testing and decides what they will doing going forward the offer systems will continue to be a problem for non-payments.

Over on the other side, I'm seeing comments from both buyers and sellers who dislike the the entire concept of advance payment for offers.

Re: Non payment buyers

You got me thinking. Maybe I’ll give doing auctions another try. I like the but it now and I do take offers, but only until, if I lower my price. I only go down so far.

That's a good observation ... "Offers" drive the price down.  I start my Auctions for the lowest amount I will accept for a one bid sale and still make a profit ... if items bid up then there is more profit.  And yes, some auctions will start at over $ 100 or more ... I basically use the same formula to determine a Buy it now price with NO offers on it ... if it sells I make my target profit.
