When you sell an item for local pickup only and the buyer ends up paying in cash or one of the popular electronic payment apps, does ebay still charge you the full fvf which now has the fvf + payment processing all rolled into one... or does Ebay charge a percentage that reflects only original fvf once the system sees the transaction marked as picked up and complete after the buyer and seller scan the pickup QR code?

FVF have included shipping since 2008.
Sales tax is new, but yes your buyer will be charged tax and it will show on his invoice.
You pay FVF on the tax (technically on the ENTIRE payment which includes the tax).
If you didn't ship the FVF on a shipping charge of $0.00 is $0.00.
If you use Free* Shipping, you pay FVF on the Entire Payment.
Although you cannot change the shipping you advertised, you can negotiate a Best Offer which lowers the asking price by the amount of the unused shipping.
EG- $25 item of which $10 would have been used for shipping. Cost $35.
Best Offer of $20 and Free Shipping can't be accepted .
Counter offer of $10 and $10 shipping is accepted --since there will be no shipping cost to the seller.
Which is cheaper -- $20 + Free Shipping or $10 + $10 Shipping?
*Free Shipping means the seller has included the cost of shipping in the asking price.

Sorry but you completely missed what I was talking about. I am already aware about having fees charged on shipping. I was asking about payment processing fees with local pickup.

If it's a cash payment on local pickup..........you are still charge the usual %........there is no breakdown of what part of the % is for payment processing so there is no credit if it's a cash payment.......

Can anyone else confirm this? I'd imagine this is the case, but do they even take the 30 cents standard fee as well? So doesn't matter and you don't save any money by accepting cash in your hand with the way eBay payment works now, correct? So I might as well have them pay through manage payment to get protection, I guess?

@dhbookdsif the payment is made in cash and does not get processed through Managed Payments, at what point does eBay charge this fee to the seller? i.e. what "event" causes eBay to charge this fee to the seller?

Feebay always gets their money, one way or another.

In general that's true, but it's really unjustified for eBay too automatically roll in the payment processing fee when they don't process the fee. So can anyone confirm what the earlier poster said that regardless of cash payment, you still get charged the full final value fee which has the payment processing rolled in?

The grocery store charges me the same price for cash even though their prices clearly have the cost of credit card processing rolled in.
They charge me the same price when I use the self-checkout aisle, even though their prices clearly have the cost of the cash register operators and the baggers rolled in.

Yes, you pay the full FVF on the price of the listing. When you closeout the listing eBay will charge you FVF on the listing + Sales tax. They get you for the .30 cent fee also.

What seller protections do you believe you'll receive if the buyer pays through eBay instead of with cash?
You have way more protections if the buyer pays cash because they cannot force a refund through a claim or payment dispute. You cannot force a cash payment, but you can encourage it. Buyer can choose to pay electronically through eBay if they prefer.
Since it's a consolidated fee, as stated above you'll be charged the fee shown for the corresponding category. Fee will not be lower because eBay isn't processing the payment.
Fees will be lower with local pickup because there is no ship cost, so that will slightly lessen the fee. If buyer pays through eBay sales tax can be a factor, but if buyer pays cash then there will not be a fee on sales tax (as minimal as that is), but it's up to you to know the laws of your state and whether or not you need to collect/report/remit sales tax on that cash transaction.
