It seems it' s no longer possible to open cases for unpaid items, the links are gone in both seller hub and on the individual items. This is just the next glitch in ebay...
Just to list them up again:
very difficult to access the list of items awaiting payment
not possible to make invoices if a buyer has more than 40 items
invoicing became a nightmare with the new system
can't use firefox any longer
many buyers can't make payment
ebay is so slow, it's ridiculous
We have between 5 and 6000 listings per week, small changes have huge effects on us. I can complain about ebay for small things but I have never known ebay to be so disfunctional as now, it is really sickening and if this continous I will have to hire an additional worker just to be able to cope with the glitches of their system. However, they had no problem charging me over 7000$ in fees this month, that seems to be about the only thing working at the moment.

If it sits for 5 days unpaid you can cancel and relist with your fees credited.
"buyer" gets a strike still.

This one isn't a glitch...eBay announced a new system in the spring update........
A quicker, more streamlined way to handle unpaid itemsWe’re introducing this new function to help you resolve unpaid item cases quicker and with less work.
- We’ll proactively remind buyers to pay once they commit to purchasing an item.
- If a buyer hasn’t paid after 5 calendar days, you can cancel the transaction.
- You can choose to have eBay automatically relist the item when you cancel the transaction.
- You’ll be able to set up automatic cancellations for non-payment in your “Preferences for items awaiting payment.”
- If you cancel an order because the buyer hasn’t paid, we’ll block that buyer’s ability to leave feedback and, if they’ve already left feedback, we’ll remove it.

I always use firefox when I am on my pc. I wonder why you are having problems with it.

I can imagine that when you have that many listings, any changes would be huge. I do feel for you!

Thanks for the intel, I hadn't found that one baout unpaid items in the spring update, another disaster in the making. We allow buyers to combine for 15 days and the ability to use the list of items eliglible for an unpaid case helps in managing this. An unpaid item case is in effect a payment reminder, most buyers pay after cases are opened, now the only recourse will be cancelling as you can't set it up for 15 days. Which means lost sales and lost buyers and relisting is not possible for us.
Seconldy, I know where to find the seller hub orders - awaiting payment , I have been using it daily for years . But the only thing it now displays is ' Uh-oh. We ran into a problem, but we're working on it. Please try later.
It's been like this for weeks now, pure misery. Maybe it's because we sell a lot and it simply can't handle our volume of sold items, even indicating items as shipped is extremely difficult, one average we have 4 to 500 invoices being shipped per day, it takes hours just to indicate them as shipped as the system continously fails. It's really on so many different levels that this system is failing that I really am getting desperate as I see no end in this, it is only just getting worse.

you want to give the buyer more time, you can set it to Manual. You have 30 days to cancel at that point.

Maybe if you read the announcements instead of knee-jerk reacting and blaming eBay, you wouldn't be so wound up. They told us about the change, and it makes it easier on you. And still you're bent out of shape.
It gets old.

That's a crock and always has been. Can you document just one buyer who has been banned for excessive unpaid item strikes? No one can because even though the strikes do exist, you only get to see who was unpaid-item blocked from buying from YOU here,

You never get to see if any buyer has been banned from eBay for excessive unpaid item strikes. No one has. If anyone has confirmed documentation of a banned buyer, I'd like to see it.
This new, nebulous "Unpaid Item Cancellation" is no different. Just more eBay reduction of the small seller protections we still have.

At least Sales are good. Not every Seller is so lucky right now - the glitches seem to be affecting other areas that are not generating sales like they were.
Sorry for what you are going thru. If we could just get back to 7-10 sales a day on a slow day, I would be a Happy Camper.

This is not a glitch.
You can now cancel unpaid transactions after 5 days.
This was announced in the spring seller update and in the help pages.
Reaction here has been pretty positive, actually.
New cancel function for unpaid items
Starting in early April 2021, we’ll begin introducing a new cancel function for unpaid items. You’ll no longer have to file unpaid item claims or send payment reminders. Instead, we’ll proactively remind buyers if they have a payment due, and you’ll be able to manually or automatically cancel an order if the buyer hasn’t paid after 5 calendar days.
A quicker, more streamlined way to handle unpaid items
We’re introducing this new function to help you resolve unpaid item cases quicker and with less work.
How to use the new cancel function
There is no action required from you to take advantage of this new function. If a buyer hasn’t paid after 5 calendar days, we’ll prompt you to cancel the transaction using the “Buyer hasn't paid” reason in Seller Hub or My eBay Sold.
If you attempt to file an unpaid item case in the Resolution Center after this update takes effect, you’ll automatically be redirected to Seller Hub to cancel the transaction directly using the “Buyer hasn't paid” reason.

eBay used to have a "3 strikes and you're out" policy which was clearly stated on the Policy page. (It was actually 4 strikes because a savvy buyer could ask customer support to remove their first strike.) Banned buyers did come to the discussion pages to complain or ask for advice.
The statement disappeared from the policy pages shortly after eBay introduced the option to block bidders/buyers based on the number of strikes that they had received. Some sellers have all of their items set to "Immediate payment required" and don't care about a buyer's payment history.

I am in awe of a seller from a postage stamp sized country doing such a massive volume of sales in of all things, stamps. Feedback over 122,000. Amazing! While your list of "problems" is long some issues might be resolved with upgrading your computer systems and using a more profuse browser than Firefox. You might consider reducing the time for customers to combine orders to seven days.
I am intrigued enough to do some research on the health care and income tax systems in Belgium.

There have been several posts over the years of buyers who complain that they are restricted from bidding on auctions and must pay immediately for f/p. They always state that the reason they didn't pay was "sellers were at fault"....
