Multiple times now since I have been selling again the fees have gone up. Soon it will be at 15% and it is crazy. Let alone raising them but than NOT EVEN ALERTING SELLERS OF THE INCREASES. I didn’t even realize the increase from 12.9 to 13.25 until I looked in one of the total fees for a recent sale. I can’t believe that not alerting us of increases in fees isn’t illegal in some way. Who am I kidding, I’m sure there are a lot of things eBay does that are illegal. I have been using eBay for 20 years and I have gotten nothing in return but backstabbings and a eBay bucks system that stopped giving me rewards on anything 3 years ago.
Fee changes bother me because I price some tightly budgeted items accurately to shipping, item cost, and fees. Now things that were calculated at 12.5% and lower are messed up. The fees should not increase on already listed items.
Does anyone think they will ever fix their sneaky messed up fee ways?

eBay made the fee increases known on February 1, 2023 in the 2023 Winter Seller Update
Incorporate the fee increase into the price of your items, the increase is 0.35%.
The fees are never sneaky, eBay always alerts us with their increases. We as sellers, need to pay attention to the announcements.

We were alerted and it was much discussed here...

Geez - it's deja vu all over again.

Just know that 4 times a year, Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall- there are 'updates'.
Look for them.
Find them.
Read them.

I think it depends what kind of stuff you are selling.
Mine is 9.35% domestic....an addition charge of 1.65% International...plus that .30 charge ( which kills me for International buyers because International buyers cannot combine their stuff so I get a charge for each item....unless there is something out there I am not doing right)...I have to issue refunds all the time to International buyers for combined shipping.

You received a direct ebay message with the winter seller update like this:

Yeah I know it was mentioned in a newsletter, but I literally didn’t even know they sent a newsletter. It honestly should’ve been spread more broadly. Not everyone sells fully as a job and have things to do other than opening up a bunch of messages that look like all their other marketing emails and messages that look like they are just trying to get you to do something else like promote a listing. Not illegal but definitely not trying to promote it completely so every single person knows. Just doing bare minimum as I would if I was raising the fees I charge.

I get an email AND an ebay message telling me there's an update. I'm not really sure what more they can do, besides sending someone to my house.

As an alternative, to avoid surprises: Check the Announcements once per month.

Ebay should not have raised fees until they confirmed that you were notified.
02-26-2023 07:19 PM
Except they did sent it to every single person. It's on us to keep up, eBay will not do it FOR us.

Look I get what your saying. But just because they sent it in a newsletter, doesn’t mean that they did what would have been best for the sellers overall. It wasn’t even bolded on the app or showing as not read already on the app, which is the thing I use. And usually When a close member in your family dies a few days before that (and you don’t even go on eBay for a week) you tend to not see a message that is the same as all their other marketing emails in almost every way possible. And once I saw the newsletter today, they aren’t wrong legally, but like I said, it doesn’t mean they wanted to do what was best for the sellers and Do everything possible to let every single seller know. If they did, I would have known.
Pin it to the top of the messages and bold it, I’m sure everyone would see it then. I know I would’ve.

Ebay does what's best for its shareholders, not sellers.

YEP! Sellers are EXPENDABLES to FEEbay. Most EVERYTHING and changes this insufferable platform makes it more and more difficult for the SELLERS. It's like they want to get rid of the sellers. I'm guessing the sellers from PRC are their bread and butter. Almost anything you search for, the RESULTS are 80% to 90% sellers from PRC. You narrow the search to US and the sellers are few and far in between, many are making like a tree and leaving.
