I am getting a bit tired of bad buyers handily leaving negative feedback because they don't like our "personality". Ebay allows this **bleep**. Mostly, Ebay is ALL ABOUT the BUYER and NOT the SELLER! Excuse me? Who pays $1200 a month in fees?-Jamesboutique

...Got that right !!
One thing every seller has to realize about eBay is.... they make the rules. And if we don't like...well, too bad !!

Having read some of the neg FB comments and response. I offer this insight, whether buying or selling on line it is impossible to judge the personality of the other party, unless they indicate their personality is expressed in written or spoken word exchanges such as responses to eBay messages or negative feed back.
Just for grins it is against eBay policy to ask the buyer to pay extra for insurance coverage. Shipping insurance is only for the benefit of the seller, eBay's MBG protects the buyer from damage in shipping (Item Not As Descriped) or lost by the carrier as in Item Not Received - no extra cost to the buyer. Any insurace coverage need to be in your posted selling prices. Suggest you revise your listing descriptions to be consistent with eBay (the landlord for all sellers)

Maybe if you respond politely, your personality won't be in question. Apparently, you were uncooperative about some issue a buyer had?

I have to support this seller because he is right. I have been an eBay seller for 16+ years. My feedback is a total of 10737 and 99.6%. Recently I had a seller violate the eBay policy of threatening to leave me negative feedback if I did not make a significant discount to him for an item the USPS broke in shipment. This item was insured. He filed an insurance claim (which most likely has been settled in his favor by now). He also filed a dispute with eBay and eBay ruled in his favor resulting in a lowering of my seller standing. Ebay allowed him to leave negatve feedback. Yesterday I discussed this with two eBay representatives. They said they could not drop the feedback and could not reinstate my prior good seller standing. This buyer threatened me that he would come and defecate in my front yard. He said he hated me and wished me dead. I spent one hour mostly waiting on eBay representatives /and talking maybe 15 minutes to eBay representaives yesterday. They virtually have no authority to do anything except tell you they cannot change anything. They were nice and just doing their job of running interference for those in eBay making policy that is progressively becoming anti-seller. I have several aquaintances and friends who have quit selling on eBay for just such policies.

correction to my previous reply: "a buyer not seller"violated the feedback policy"

I don't understand how any buyer would know your personality unless you show it to them in some way. Possibly some of the statements in your descriptions are off putting.
As already mentioned, sellers are not permitted to add a fee for insurance after the sale. We can work it into our pricing, but stating that in a description isn't supposed to be allowed. Also, there is no need to tell a buyer that shipping is an estimate and to wait for an invoice. Again, we are not permitted to change the cost shown in our listings. We must set them up to charge the correct amount so buyers know what the costs will be before committing. Many buyers know these rules and may punish you for trying to go around them.

What's your personality like though--is it the negative type ?
Online, people usually can telll what type of personality one has via communication, and sometimes even on a listing.
