I'm sure some of you have encountered this situation before. Any help would removing this feedback is appreciated. Buyer stated they got cards "bent" and claimed he "threw them out" but said he still has the envelope and show me that which he never did. Also he has been harassing me on email after I asked him to remove the Feedback. He said he would not remove negative feedback from my 100% positive Top Rated seller account. I would gladly give a refund if they showed proof and returned the item. I asked eBay to remove the feedback, however they claim it's not against policy. I don t understand EBays reluctance to remove this feedback. If I bought something and claimed it was damaged I would work with the seller for a return and a refund. I think ebay should also ban this person - he s not good for business. To get a ding like this for a $1.49 free shipping item is ludicrous. Do I just live with this??

No "proof" is needed.
Tell him to open a Dispute for Not As Described, which will give him a Return Shipping Label that you pay for, and a full refund.
He won't of course.
Then when he loses the Dispute, for not sending back the cards, his FB can be removed.

@iamoob222 wrote:If that's not accurate, why hasn't eBay stepped in to help the seller. I know is a minor amount but the fact remains that this seller did not get any support from ebay.
It would not be appropriate for eBay to step in on your behalf. They have no idea what you sent or if it was damaged in transit. Unless eBay requires a photo as part of the return process, a buyer is under no obligation to provide one. The buyer just wants a refund - simple stuff.

@iamoob222 if u have in ebay messages that the buyer said he would remove the negative feedback if u refund him, that is considered blackmail/extortion feedback and is not allowed.

Sorry, I don't believe that is true.
I have had it done several times and have seen it done several times, even recently.
Replying/responding to a negative feedback does not prevent it's removal in any way.
@inhawaii I stand corrected; I've never done it but always 'heard/read' that you couldn't once you commented. Good to know.

The feedback you received doesn’t violate eBay policy and therefore doesn’t qualify for removal.
Your response to the negative calls attention to it and is quite unprofessional IMO.
Your buyer gave their opinion of the transaction as that is what feedback is for. You need to realize you can’t please everyone. If you sent the buyer a feedback retraction and he declined then you need to move on, the world doesn’t end over one negative feedback. It will roll off 12 months from the day it was given.

I wish. That wasn't an option, he just left negative feedback. He said he threw the cards away. I think he just wanted he cards for free. Ebay asked him to remove the feedback and he refused. Thanks for your input.

If he would have asked I would have given him the refund. He just left negative feedback and when I contacted him about it he said threw them away. Sounds like **bleep** to me.

So this is a few of the many harassing emails this person sent me - is this extortion?
If I get 2 more cards or refund I'll revise it
Ok I didn't take pic I forgot I don't have the cards they were damaged so I threw them in the trash because I was frustrated and wasn't happy I could change feed back I don't appreciate u yelling at me so I'll think about it

Yea I believe @inhawaii is correct. Although, I personally always try to make it a point to never reply to any feedback that I am in the process of trying to get removed, even if it's a blatant lie or offensive feedback. I don't really know why I do that, I guess when talking to an agent I don't want anything I said to be cemented in there as to possibly sway the agent to not help me. Also if the negative ends up being 100% not removable, I can always ask the agent for suggestions on what reply to type. It also helps avoid sending an immediate emotional, and potentially inappropriately damaging reply.

This may have been mentioned already, but I wanted to be sure you knew that this widely-held view about feedback removal has been shown to be inaccurate. Replying to a negative (or neutral) feedback does NOT affect a seller's ability to get it removed.

There are further issues to my original post. This buyer continues to give sellers unwarranted negative feedback. How many items does one person get damaged constantly? I've been tracking this buyer and he continues to do this and yet Ebay has done nothing to help. He even tried to extort me by asking for more cards or a refund and then he'll removed the negative feedback. I know this is a minor issue in terms of the amount involved but it goes beyond that. There is no integrity at ebay. You cannot chat or speak to a human and when you call the fraud line they are totally useless. So we sellers make all this $$$$ for ebay and they provide absolutely no support. This person just joined ebay in May and had already dinged 3 sellers for the same reasons that I know of. I'm waiting for him to start selling the items he claimed that came damaged and threw them away. This is unbelievable. Thanks to all who have been very helpful with advice but nothing helps.

If I get 2 more cards or a refund I will remove it...to me that sounds like extortion...give me what I want or else...some people are just a..holes.

Yes they were sent well protected. It turns out he's doing this to other sellers as well. He is also threatening me to give a refund or send more cards in return for taking the feedback off. I wouldn't give a buyer a hard time for a few bucks. So you are saying I can buy something and claim that it's damaged and not return it and get a refund as well? ??? Doesn't sound right to me.

From time to time buyers have sent me pictures of their postcards that got damaged in transit where it almost seems impossible - but never has anyone told me the card was damaged and they threw it away. They never said if I sent them some more or refunded them money they wouldn't leave negative feedback.
Don't worry about the neg - conduct yourself at 100% as you seem to have been doing and that single neg feedback will look like what it is. a nothingburger.

Yup.
That's Feedback Extortion.

AND
If he demands a refund, you are allowed to request return of the unwanted item.
If he does not return it, even if you sent a Return Shipping Label, he loses the dispute and cannot leave FB (among other penalties).
If he will not open a Dispute, you can ask eBay's Help and Contact, or the contacts above, for help with FB removal on the grounds that you tried to "make the buyer whole".
