My Situation

So I recently sold a Roblox pet for my sister on ebay. Sold it, buyer who paid looked good, so I sold it to them instead of cancelling. Recorded the whole transaction, they messaged me to meetup in game, and it went well. Next thing you know few weeks later ebay says buyer filed a dispute with their bank. I look at their account, and boom flooded by reviews saying that they were a scammer after all. I Provided evidence, ebay claimed it didn’t matter since the buyer filed a chargeback with their payment institution, and my bank account was charged. So, I contacted my bank, signed a Written statement of Unauthorized ACH debit activity, showed my evidence, and signed a Stop Payment Authorization form. I was able to get my money back, but ebay emailed me again yesterday saying my bank account will be charged. Will it go through? Will my account be charged? Will I have my account closed if I don’t allow them to charge me? Idk kind of worried. When I contacted support and even spoke to a "supervisor" all they said they can do is give me a lousy coupon. I feel like ebay really doesn't care about my money and instead are willing to screw me over, possibly take back money that is rightfully mine, side with a scammer, possibly close my account until I pay them, or even worse send my debt to a debt collection agency. I just want to keep my money. Can you guys please help me? What can I do?

You do know that you can block people that have bad feedback, right? Canceling after the fact is not a good idea because they can still leave you negative feedback. You don't want that, it takes forever to fall off. As far as Ebay goes, you can chat with them for clarification about your situation and what they think that you could do. If you did everything that you could with your bank, you might have to write this one off, price of doing business sometimes. Good luck.

kabilab replies--First, read Duffy's advice. Next, accept the responsibility you erred. Finally, drop the matter before it is too late and you lose your account and/or damage your credit rating.

Re: My Situation

I don't know this game well, but as far as I can tell, Trading the robolox pets for real money on like ebay is something both of you can get banned for...like not an ebay ban, but a Robolox ban. Says it's called "cross trading."

So, I suppose, if this is really the hill you want to die on, you might be able to both of you banned. That's something you could do.

And everything I read online says that doing these trades of robolox things is "always" a scam...yeah, so good luck.

The buyer went to their payment source, so Ebay doesn't have any say in the case.

Have a great day.

Re: My Situation

They had no bad reviews when I sold them the pet. Why would I say they looked good if they had bad reviews?

By the time the dispute happened, that's when all these reviews started popping up

Re: My Situation

The digital item you sold is the intellectual property of Roblox Corporation which has a Terms of Use which you didn't read. You CAN do transactions with their own currency system (Robux) but not for cash over the internet. All game and digital developers have similar rules.

I would cut my losses and make no more noise. You're just digging a hole. Sorry~

I understand that ebay doesn't protect digital items, but how can it be that regardless of evidence

EBay cannot prove that you sent the item. EBay cannot prove that the buyer got the item.

How can they not prove that I sent it, if I sent them the proof? I literally have proof the buyer received what they ordered. I literally attached photos in the email to ebay.

If you are talking about eBay, buyers cannot get negative or neutral feedback. eBay banned poor ratings for buyers in 2008.  It is also against policy to leave a negative comment about a buyer in a positive feedback. So all buyers have 100% feedback ratings. To get any less, they’d have to be sellers too.

Re: My Situation

Buyers can only receive positive feedback on Ebay, never go by that.

Pictures don't prove they received it, they can be faked to easy.

The only proof they accept showing the buyer received it is tracking.

Have a great day.

Re: My Situation

There has to be someone on here like a higher up representative or something that I can speak to that can take away my negative balance.”

@moises305

This is a member to member forum. There is no one from eBay moderating any of the boards or offering customer service. We are fellow buyers and sellers like yourself. But a good number of  respondents here are highly experienced eBay sellers; many have been volunteers in the forums for years, and are fully capable and competent to offer help and direction.

Even if CS was here, they would not be able to reverse a credit card chargeback, having no authority over other payment processers/banks/cc owners. eBay’s seller protections are minimal. Sellers must rely on their own experience to protect their interests, for the most part.

Re: My Situation

Hey I got a question, and for everyone else if you read this and have an answer please reply too. I was looking at the transaction right now and it now has an option to mark it as picked up. I marked it as picked up. Would that be an equivalent to a tracking number?? Will this make any difference at all?? Ebay has to have the power to pay back its sellers somehow right? I mean they're raking in boatloads of money off seller fees. What should I do now??

I also want to add that in the dispute they claimed that they didn't recognize the transaction  yet  they messaged me twice after buying letting me know that they were ready to get the item.

Frequently, scammers like this are using stolen credit cards. So the person who bought your item, and messaged you about it, was probably not the person whose credit charge was charged for it and who didn't recognize the payment because it was credit card fraud.

Re: My Situation

Nope.

You would need the buyer’s q code or confirmation number to confirm the pickup.

You violated both eBay and Roblox’s rules. Sorry for the costly lesson. I just hope Roblox doesn’t ban your sister’s account.
