More than 50 days to find out why my account was restricted and suspended );

Hello. Around May 20, 2024, the support team asked me for proof of identity and address. I sent such documents and I believed that everything was resolved. Time passed and I received a notification from eBay saying that my account was restricted. So I emailed them asking the reason for the restriction. Then they told me I just needed to wait for support to contact me. Then on June 26th, I saw that all listings from my store had ended. So I contacted support once again asking why this had happened and once again they said I only needed to wait. So I waited another two weeks and didn't receive any response and to make matters worse they stopped responding to my messages. So I asked my friend who lives in the US to call support and ask why my account was suspended and why they no longer responded to my messages.  Then a day later I finally got a response from support saying that my account was suspended because they didn't accept my proof of address (POA).  So I sent a new proof of address (this time a proof registered and authenticated at a notary's office in my country so there would be no doubt about the authenticity of the document). But once again I did not get no response.

Am I being discriminated against because I am Brazilian or because I'm not a big seller? More than 50 days to get a response from support cannot be something usual. Am I wrong to think this way?

Why would eBay care if you're Brazilian, or not a big seller?  They have the same procedures in place for everyone.  Yes, they can be slow, but it's not anything to do with discrimination.  Just drop that line of thinking right away.

Have you reached out to eBay via their social network contacts, if you're able?  Many of us have found that to be the best way to reach them.

You can click the Help & Contact link and drill down to your issue, then begin a chat and type "Agent", or request a callback if that's offered.

You can contact them via Facebook, X, or Instagram apparently (I haven't used any of those except Facebook before):

https://www.facebook.com/eBay

https://x.com/askebay/

https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/ (this is the only one that has a dedicated seller page still, but all work)

(That's my copypasta for the contact methods.)

Hi dear,

First, thank you for reading my question and trying to help me. Yes, i agree with you. But they suspended my listings since June 26th and since then they stopped responding to my messages.

Yes, I always contacted them by going to ´´Help & Contact´´ (I am at eBay since 2011). But they definitely stopped responding to me more than two weeks ago. They responded two days ago because my friend who lives in the US called them.

But I will follow his advice and contact them through Facebook.

Best regards

Your eBay ID is Brazil...not a problem.

Items are being mailed from China?....that can be a problem...as well as Brazil....as well as USA.

If your ID is from Brazil...items should be mailed from Brazil I believe.

If someone wanted to return an item...where...what address would it be returned to?...That could be a problem.

You are not being discriminated because you are from Brazil or a big seller.

@r-mamba_brushless

Sorry for your situation.  Drop shipping seldom works for sellers, especially if they are inexperienced as a seller. Lots of unhappy customers and customer complaints will call your account into question.  FYI  eBay doesn't care if you're from Brazil or the planet Jupiter...if you can't provide good customer service, along with being honest you are doomed here on eBay.  Your replies to the negative feedback you received are extremely unprofessional and insulate.  Probably another reason why your account was restricted.  Sorry.

I wish you well with future career opportunities.

Hi friend. Why do you think I work with drop shipping? Why am I in Brazil? I have been on eBay for 13 years and have accumulated 6 thousand transactions. There's nothing wrong with my sales. The problem started when the system identified access to my account from China. Then the system asked me for proof of address and identity. I appreciate your response but I don't appreciate the content of it.

@r-mamba_brushless

Your items are coming from China.  That's drop shipping plain and simple.  You are in Brazil.  If your items were coming from where you were actually located, the problem you are experiencing would not be the issue.  eBay just doesn't restrict accounts because they're in a bad mood or having a bad day, they do it when their customers don't get what they ordered and have a BBE.  Bad buyer experience.  I'm sorry you don't like the contact of my reply, but the truth is always the route to go.  JMO.

Again, good luck to you!

In fact, I would like to know if it is usual to wait more than 50 days for a response from support.

Based on what I've read, any answers usually givne for a restricted amount that they consider the seller is a risk to the community. I haven't heard of them ever giving more specific answers.  I don't agree with the way they handle such situations but your situation isn't unique.

You'll probably never find out the exact reason your account was suspended.

Some reasons, they don't want sellers to know, so they can't find a way around it.

Have a great day.

If you are in Brazil and you are selling/shipping things from China, then you are NOT selling things direct- you are Drop Shipping and unless you have approval to do that (which you obviously do not) you get what you got. Banned and ignored.

The reason they took 50 days is because they really did NOT want to tell you anything as well as there are Millions of 'others' doing the same thing and 'they' don't have time to 'answer' everyone that says 'why me?'.

So, to answer your question

"is this typical?".

The answer is

Yes.

You are lucky you got one rep that didn't know any better to tell you anything at all.

Buy things, get them in front of you, take pictures and sell/ship them from YOUR location.

Do NOT show you are in Brazil and your 'stuff' is in China (although it's probably too late for you to do anything more on this site)

No...your account is probably fried.

     As others noted you were probably drop shipping. Looking at your feedback I will assume your seller metrics looked similar which is probably what caused eBay to review your account and that was when they made the drop shipping connection. Not unusual it happens to a LOT of drop shippers especially those drop shipping out of China which is less than reliable when it comes to shipping or having the items available to ship.

So you are located in Brazil, but your items are dropshipped from China, and you had a "friend" in the USA call on your behalf?

Your friends account has now been connected to yours. They can suffer the same consequences as your account did.

Plus, ebay would never talk with a random person calling in about another members account.

Oh and this listing is OMG.
