Mistake with refund :(

Hi all, I recently sold a motherboard but put the wrong board in the wrong box somehow anyway i was supprised when the buyer messaged me requesting a refund but I quickly responded appologising for the mistake and clicked the refund button as I have never had to refund anything before, not realising that once I click the refund button the case is closed... Now i have no way of getting my item back, I have purchased a postage label and sent it to the buyer via the ebay message system but he has no responded at all, im not sure if this is because he has no intention of sending it back or because he isn't recieving my messages..

Sigh I've spent the last few hours going round and round in circles with the ebay HELP pages, but simply because its a closed return case nothing can be done. Surely ebay should make it more clear that once the seller me in this case has clicked refund they can no longer get their item back.. I have now lost £50 and i've lost my motherboard..

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

1st; stop going in circles because NOTHING can be done. 

Once you refund, you are at the mercy of that buyer to ship it back to you. Period.

Once you click the refund button, the case is closed and the transaction is complete.

The buyer need not do anything else.

Ebay is no longer involved.

You and the buyer will need to negotiate any further actions. Many buyers are good people and will return the item if you make it easy for them. Some will not.

Well you did what you could by sending the return label, thats all you can do. Ebay is unable to help you with getting your item back. Now you know you dont refund until you do get your item back.

Be lucky it was only a $50 item.

Some sellers have lost hundreds to thousands for refunding before the item was returned.

You have made lots of profit from selling on eBay since 2003.

I agree with what others have said........but we are primarily US Sellers........there could possibly be a difference in the UK........I suggest you post on that board to be sure.......
