Make An Offers

So I have a make an offer on most of my listings. Lately I’m running into a lot of people making me a somewhat low offer which is fine. I come back with a counter offer. Then they counter offer me at 50 cents lower than my counter offer. I feel like I shouldn’t even respond. I really don’t care about the 50 cents. It’s just the principle of it all. What is everyone’s opinion? Should I ignore the counter offer or just go back at my original price. It’s just a waste of time for me.

If you really don’t care about the 50 cents, then just accept their offer.  Are you really going to let your "principles" get in the way of making a sale for 50 cents less than your counteroffer?

Just start making your counter offers 50 cents higher, then accept their offer 🙂

I find that those kind of lowball ballers tend to find 'faults' and want a partial or full refund....

When you set up Best Offer, you can also set up parameters on those Offers to be automatically accepted. 

For example you price at $50, allowing Best Offer.

Then you set an automatic Refusal at ,say, $37.50. 

Any offer below that will get a polite letter from eBay- which you never see- thanking  the customer and telling them to try again.

Setting an automatic Acceptance means you first hear of the Offer when you see the sale.

The difference between Accept and Reject can be whatever you want.

The Rejection above might have been accepted at $37.51 or only if it were$45.00. 

If the Offer is between those two, you can get involved and either accept, reject , or counter offer.

I use a mixture of Best Offer with parameters and Eligible for Best Offer. 

Interestingly, those who accept the "eligibles" are paying more than they would if they used Best Offer since my Reject parameter is lower yet.

I've had similar experiences with lowball offers and excessive haggling. For instance, I once listed an item for $39.95, and a buyer offered $20. I countered with $25 to be flexible, but then they kept pushing with $21, $22, $23, and finally $25 – the same price I'd already suggested. Even then, I rejected it. They email claiming they'd offered the same price as my counter. At that point, I blocked them. It's about setting boundaries and valuing your time. If a buyer can't respect that, it's best to move on.

I have someone who requested 2 items using 'send offer'...and took many emails to tell them how to do it.

They wanted the 2 together and I had to 'hold their hand' to teach them how to send two separate orders.

That was 2 days ago...still haven't paid...Now she is requesting another dollar off today.

I am just going to ignore the last request...buyer gets 4 days to pay I believe.

I thought about blocking them but I don't want to be that cruel...yet.

And I don't have 'best offer' in my items for sale...LOL

Either just 'stop' doing the 'offer' thing or play the game.

It's how bad you want to sell the item. Is 50 cents worth keeping the item around waiting for another offer/buyer or take that offer now. If you are tired of lower offers just select max you would accept when you click "Best Offers." That way if it's below that offer it will get declined. I have "Best Offer" on most if not all my items. I am flexible on some items and not so on others.

If the "principal of it all" is that you are willing to lose a sale over that 50 cents, then clearly that 50 cents matter a whole lot to you.

it is a waist of time, I send offers only, no counter offers allowed, life is grand

they can take it or leave it 

and the sellers that have best offer and literally set it for $1 less than asking price, may as well not even offer it then because it is almost always a sure bet someone has a lower price anyway

The difference between Accept and Reject can be whatever you want.

Not sure about that, though there had to be a % difference between the shown price and the lowest you would consider when setting up the listing.
