Listing Views

I have talked to a couple of other sellers & even contacted eBay help about the absolutely absurd low item view count. First they said they were working on it, but that was weeks ago. Who else is having this issue & what can we do about it?

thanks for any response you might have.

Re: Listing Views

It's the same for me, views, and thus sales have absolutely cratered, crashed, nosedived.

I have many items with 0 views in a whole month. The last few months my sales are down over 70%.

This is NOT normal, and it's not the same on other platforms. I would definitely suggest diversifying.

I've received 100X the views and many "likes" on the same items I have for sale on eBay that have 0 views in the same time frame. I do understand that views do not always mean buyers, but at least I know that buyers are seeing and "liking" my items.

I'm super frustrated with what has happened, and as I have 15 years invested in my business on eBay I would love to see it thrive again...although I'm planning on moving every item I have listed to other platforms in the meantime.

I'm not optimistic because of the catastrophic lack of views, watchers, and sales in the past two months.

Best wishes to you on your selling journey, and may a miracle bring eBay back for the smaller sellers who have been so damaged by these changes.

Re: Listing Views

@jared.austin   Impressions are down by over 50% ... earlier this year by over 80%.  View counts are in the cellar ... 23.5% of my items have ZERO Views ... another 18% have ONE View ... so that's 41.5% of my items that basically have no visibility ... oh, did I mention my sales are DOWN by around 50% for the month?

To be honest, they made a big mistake, don't know how to correct it and here we are ...

Re: Listing Views

No problems with the views over here. Everything appears normal. Worry more about the sales than the view counts!!

Hang in there!

They ditched bot views in their last update so view counts will remain low to zero. I no longer care to share my listings to sites like Pinterest etc. Funny enough I had sales with zero views. I therefor have given up worrying about view count and happy if I am getting my usual daily sales.

@duncanvr that's because the new system isn't counting actual views either, in their elimination of bot views they are also not counting actual views. The problem isn't the views on the listing, it's how those decreased view counts are affecting promoted listing impressions.

about right from my own and everyone elses reporting lately, approx 50% since last month, at least ebay is being consistent this time lol 🤣

EDIT: just wait til next month, when sales are up 150% from this month and all you had to do is sell like 5 things

Its pretty sad @nuclearomen  ... last year I had 6 months (May through Oct) that set new sales records ... this year not even close ... May through July so far are all about the same, down 50%.  Last month I shifted a third of my items to a different venue, if eBay won't help sell things then its a simple business decision.

I just thing all the changes in the last 6-8 months have really had one of the biggest negative impacts on the venue ... and I don't think they know how to back out of it ...

Last month I think most of my sales came from Repeat customers and short duration Auctions ... GTC listings just don't seem to gain any traction or at least the first 20 days of their listing cycle they are nowhere to be found ...

Last year I did more then previous, this year was on mark to exceed last year but past month-month and half since they made all these changes it's just dropped like everyone else. View counts maybe where it started (can't remember now), the new listing tool was another... when people visit listing and it doesn't display right well is hard to see why would have a sale...and it happens on all browsers/devices randomly. PLS increase was next, likely not main cause but i'd question what algorithms changed cause seems no one getting views on PLS' either....I'd say yeah, or, they don't want to fix it... either way, it's their mess and there is nothing we can do. Every seller I know personally have told me they all have done the same things I did, end and create new PLS campaign, increase percentage, opt out of new listing tool, opt back in, end listing and make new...blah blah blah... nothing is working and won't because it's the systems that is ebay so it's up to them to "fix". Everyone I know who sells outside ebay reporting record sales. So again, I say, it's not economy, people are buying, just not on ebay.

Re: Listing Views

Ok now that I understand the bot view better........ I (for the first time ever) am looking at Walmart and Amazon.

I would like to try Walmart first before diving into Amazon......but an really challenged to see what the Amazon selling fees really are.

Re: Listing Views

Not sure what or why views are down but I sell fishing items, June-August I sell 60% of my income for the year. I just can't believe 0-2 views on very good selling fishing items

Re: Listing Views

So, it seems that not all but most  are having the same issues. I just do this part time, so to move to another platform is an option, but I don't really want to go thru the hassel.

Has anyone used Shopify? Does that work for a resale business?

Thanks,

Shopify is a site that sells webspace for a website...if you can drive the traffic to the site then yes, if not, then no.
