Listing Optimization - Multiple Categories - does anybody finds value spending money?

Ebay says "Listing in two and more categories increases the chances that your item will get in front of an interested buyer. You'll pay an insertion fee for including a second category — this fee still applies even when using a free listing."

Aside for the reasons of the well known bugs of Ebay site...  (such as.. when buyer searching an item and ebay "suggests" the wrong categories and buyer doesn't see items or the mobile Ebay app suggest wrong categories when creating the listing ....) aside of the well known issues related to these bugs that may some motivate to consider listing in multiple categories to increase the visibility ...  does anybody find good value spending money and listing in multiple categories?

I don't and I never did.

But I wonder what is the opinion

IMO you would get more bang for your buck putting that money into advertising.  No matter what you do as a seller you can't beat eBay's terrible search engine.

In the long ago days before item specifics, yes, it had some value. But I haven't used it in years, and I think even ebay's Griff has said it isn't worth the expense.

Appreciate. That's what I was thinking.

I know there are some who disagree

BUT whenever I am searching for something I enter the relevant description or keyword. I NEVER consider specifying a category. My most common purchase is an HP61XL ink cartridge. I don't care what category anyone puts it in. I will get a result based on the keyword HP61XL. And if you put it in 2 (or more) categories it is not going to change my results.

i.e. - a second category is a waste of money.
