Did you know that (Relisting an Item) without using (Sell Similar) can put your listing in jeopardy of being taken down as if it never existed, and without any notice?
What Unpublished Secret eBay Rules do you have?

I think many of what you’re calling ‘Unpublished Secret eBay Rules’ are more accurately called ‘Unintended Consequences’ of attempted improvements.
Just sayin’.
‘Unintended Consequences’, so in turn they double down?
Sheep don't talk.. Just sayin

I am not so sure about that claim. I just sold my longest listed item, at least 5 years. Hallelujah!

glad to read that one... One way to get rid of an old listing is when it sells....

I agree same here.. I've sold items that have been listed for years. Meanwhile some type predatory algorithm is targeting our other listings. Why is this forbidden to talk about?
We can all work with eBay on this (we can handle the truth). We just need to know the rules so we can follow them.

I have done this literally dozens of times and that has never happened to me. Before I had a store (back when Time Away was only available with stores) I would simply end all of my listings whenever I went on vacation and then relist them when I got back. Never lost a single thing doing that.

By reading the thread you can see most us agree on one thing in that (it does happen). Frankly we're beyond that part..

They started this removal of old listing I think 1 year old thing many years ago. JUST SELL similar on the old stock and get the darn thing on there fresh so that this does not happen.

If I remember correctly with the old listings that are like a year old they expect you to either lower the price, add new pictures do SOMETHING to them differently so they will sell. If you go to those old listings just do something different with them and do a sell similar in the future. I guess I understand their perspective, if it’s been there for a year and nothing is moving then it is just a glut of extra listings on here that crowd out space.

"watch your listing to make sure they do not end up as the non existing ghost listings that show up."
Hey! ebay told us there were no ghost listings, we were just relisting items sold months ago and had long dropped off the sold list. You know, we were screwing up those NINE-TWO times! Same with the unsold stuff just going poof! We must have sleep ebayed and deleted them our self.

Listings that are less than 6 months are falling off. Yes I agree some old A-B listings should be refreshed. Granted sell similar is a solution although a waste of time on rare niche items.
Why would eBay even offer (relist) instead of just (sell similar)?

Why would eBay even offer the (relist) feature if it's loaded with failure, instead of just using (sell similar)?
Can you explain this Tag you submitted showing 'Patently False'?

Yeah, I just went through mine out of curiosity and I've got a ton from 2020-- everything I relisted after I closed my store for a few months due to the pandemic. I sell collectibles so it's not uncommon for stuff to hang around for a few years before it sells and I can't say I've ever had anything disappear, even the things that were listed for 3+ years.

I've had disappearing listings on a regular basis - I don't think it's a conspiracy but rather a database event of some kind - indexing error or whatever. 1.5 billion items on a somewhat creaky platform, it's going to happen. I think mine are usually on the third auto-relist, but I've had it happen on items I've listed only 30-40 days previously.
