Did you know that (Relisting an Item) without using (Sell Similar) can put your listing in jeopardy of being taken down as if it never existed, and without any notice?
What Unpublished Secret eBay Rules do you have?

I am sure many are standing by for more details! Maybe come back and post more information about what happed. There must be more to the story?
Here it is; eBay Removed Over (HALF) of Our Niche Inventory! A... - The eBay Community

This is not what I said:
using the auto relist or just relist places the position when looking for new items in a search down the chain of new due to the origin date.
So far we have yet to discover why your listings were taken down... You should have got a message this was done by the way.
I still suspect old listing may be a problem due to changes eBay has done in the listing formats.
Oh and some of them hidden rules, well some do have to do with eBay security (not saying that your case did).

Is this thread just a continuation of the one you posted earlier?

No I'm sorry it's not, reaching out to protect myself from other unwritten rules..

years ago I learned to use sell similar versus relisting the item. For some reason, different things would change when I tried the relist feature like my package size and weight and this would throw my calculated shipping off costing me money. or they would upgrade me to different add-ons like bold print, etc.
the only one that made sense was when you do relist on a multiple quantity it did revert back to the original quantity you used the first time but it makes sense seeing you did a relist of the original listing and I can see them pulling the original date too then but the other things that happened to me doesn't make sense because they weren't in the original listing.
So I always used sell similar which always worked correctly for me but I don't use relist anymore because I never know what they might change next on me. Who knows, they might have fixed these issues(cough, cough) because I never went back to relist to find out.

RedT, he has a problem with them ending listings on him that have unsold but they are less than the year they give you. More details in his other threads.

long time seller here and I still dont know how the system works
I relist once a month from my unsold listings
my favorite search has only 2800 items in it usually.
if I relist 30 items with a certain name in them I sort of expected them to move to the top of the 2800 as in just listed
I realized a few weeks ago that when I relist an auction it gets lost in the pile with a 6 month old date from when it was listed the very first time
i also noticed other auctions that had just been listed with old dates.
i always thought if you relisted from the unsold items list that they would would start with a fresh date
I guess I need to use sell similar in order to trick my old listing into being a new one

Join the long list of Ebay sellers who are trying to establish a new cargo cult to explain what they do not understand. And take your choice of secret rules, bots, algorithms, etc. as the malevolent spirits.

The other thread is different. I'm asking what Secret eBay Unwritten Rules (Do you know about), not related to mine? Of course comment on my example as well.

Malevolent spirits might be true, or just the ordinary glitches..I am never sure with eBay.
As for the unpublished rules: Hey what triggers a account review::: and I can think of some more but then again might come under them security reasons....

Oh and watch your listing to make sure they do not end up as the non existing ghost listings that show up.
Out there but not seen by you until they sell some times by what has been posted to the boards........

Reading through the thread I see a scary trend that I didn't even touch on. eBay targeting sellers that don't fall in line. Where are the brave whistle blowers?

i have noticed that when you do things the ebay way it works out better
ebay gives sellers wide latitude to pick and choose how to get things done
choosing 30 day free returns and 1 day handling time is what ebay likes you to do.
ebay like it all automated with returns and that works good for me
I think ebay overlooks small problems when you do things there way
doing what ebay recommends with regards to returns is the name of the game
ebay is lenient with me and many sellers as far as late shipping goes
ebay does descore the lates by the dozen for me when they happen
