Left a Buyer Negative Feedback and Rating But They Are Showing 100% Positive Feedback

I left  negative comment and a negative rating for a buyer who did not pay AFTER I cancelled the transaction per the policy and AFTER eBay requested the feedback.

I did not violate policy as others originally stated by some in the "now deleted" post. My rating matched the comments. The buyer did not ask me to modify the comment nor the rating.

The user had other feedback that was similar (negative comments but a positive rating) so there is obviously something off.  They only had 3 feedbacks - all negative comments but 100% positive rating.

Unfortunately, I was not able to see the feedback prior to sending out an offer since I am not able to see who is a watcher on an item.

Has anyone seen this before?

This is what it looks like when eBay removes the negative comment from a false positive feedback:

I tracked that down from a thread where a buyer came to complain about the false positive, and was told how to get it removed.

No. It didn't have all those options and it wasn't a pop-up.

After I cancelled after the 4 days, I had returned to where all my orders are listed.

I was curious to see how a cancelled order appeared  since this was a first for me.

I noticed I could leave feedback for the person through the normal process. You can see the screen shot below but obviously, the option to leave feedback is not there since I have already left feedback.

Once I clicked "Leave Feedback" - the screen came up, similar to what we normally see when we leave feedback for buyers however it didn't have the 2 fields for "custom" or "stored" feedback.

There was a star rating and a field underneath to leave text. It was not the eBay feedback window (with just the 1-5 stars) either because that appeared at the bottom while I was leaving feedback and I closed the eBay feedback pop-up window.

Also, when I was leaving the feedback, I also recall it looking like the older eBay site, if that makes sense. Even when the eBay feedback window popped up, it seemed like it was "newer".

Some have also mentioned that I am not even able to leave feedback but the option was there after I cancelled after the appropriate time frame.

I'm starting to wonder if I stumbled up on the OLD feedback page but that would be extra weird.

Were you given the option to give a red negative or gray neutral rating?

General comments on the can you or can't you leave FB on a cancelled transaction sub-discussion happening on this thread.

As far as I'm aware, sellers have always been able to leave FB on cancelled transactions. That option was never removed.

So many here saying they do not think it's possible so we did some testing this weekend on an account w/o autoFB.

Found that from seller hub>orders the option to leave FB does not appear in the drop down, nor does the option appear on the order details page. Perhaps that is why some believe it is not possible.

However the option does appear on this page linked below and always has. In fact, regular poster here Mr Lincoln has complained numerous times over the years about it because you cannot delete those cancelled items from this page. Hitting the X just temporarily removes them and they come right back when the page refreshes. https://www.ebay.com/fdbk/leave_feedback

Go to your buyer's FB page @cminichiello0528 - does it show they are registered in another country?

I doubt it's the issue here, but we have seen in the past where a buyer makes a purchase on an international site that's not as updated as the .com site - an item that was listed on .com but purchase took place on an international site - so we've been dumped into old pages for cancels, returns, etc. One of the reasons I doubt that's the issue here is because we haven't been able to leave negs for buyers since 2008 so it's hard to imagine those old FB pages would still be lingering despite the layers of old code. But I thought it was worth mentioning in case the international purchase element was a factor.

It's just weird though. I'm glad it was positive, but why should a buyer get to leave FB for something they canceled. You know what I mean?

They didn’t. I’m the seller and I left them feedback.

A customer made a mistake and won an auction I had. Afterwards, he apologized, said he already had it would I please cancel the sale.

Since he was the only bidder, I said okay and relisted it. I found it odd however, that he was able to give me feedback on the transaction and gave me a positive FB and said something like "Went great, let me cancel the order". I thought that was interesting he was given that opportunity.

You got lucky. Time was they could never leave feedback IF A BUYER ASKED TO CANCEL.

Which made sense, because now when a buyer asks to cancel and the seller does, you read that a month later (up to 60 days) a BUYER RETURNS AND LEAVES NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ON THE CANCELED ORDER.

I should clarify, my above post refers to unpaid item cancellations, not buyer requested cancellations.

Maybe an ebay rep can pop in to clear this up.  Is there a new test for sellers to give non paying buyers feedback, along with star ratings?  Does this also allow false positives?

Hey @fern*wood! There is no testing going on for sellers to give buyers negative feedback.

Well.........then the 1 rating could be accurate, in the seller's eyes.

I wanted to make sure you see that an ebay rep has responded concerning your issue.  You never did answer my question as to what ratings you were offered for your non-paying buyer--- green positive, red negative, or gray neutral?

So there is "no testing going on for sellers to give buyers negative feedback".

But a star rating would be different, wouldn't it? A tool possibly to help the AI weed out the bad buyers. Maybe those that were employed to do that left in the recent cull. If there ever was any.
