I am a long time eBay seller and buyer, and when sellers wait to see if I've left them feedback before leaving feedback from my purchase it really makes me mad. Feedback as a seller means, the seller leaves feedback about the transaction, i.e., paid promptly, answered questions quickly, etc. The feedback should be left for the buyer as soon as the seller receives payment or at least as soon as the item is shipped.
Come on sellers, you can even set up automatic feedback's and you don't have to do a darn thing.

Of what value to you is feedback as a buyer?
Really serves no purpose honestly.

Have to assume that you know that feedback is optional/voluntary, not mandatory/required.
Over time, many sellers have decided that buyer FB has no value because, no matter what a buyer does, he can only receive positive FB or none at all.

Paying is required and in and of itself does not warrant feedback.
Buyer feedback can only be positive. That renders it meaningless.
I’m not aware of any other venue that has any kind of feedback for buyers.

When...and to whom one leaves feedback is voluntary. What one chooses may not be what someone else feels comfortable with.
Kind of nice to have that choice.
My hope for you is that you see this as so inconsequential to anything really important.
Open your door and go and smell the flowers. Take a look around....so much to be grateful for.
With kindness,
Grandma

Is that the way you do it? Did you ever leave immediate good feedback for a buyer, only to have him open a fraudulent Not As Described a week later, and send you back a rock or an empty box? You couldn't have left negative feedback, but did you wish you hadn't left positive?

Agree
FB has devolved into a joke. I remember when it actually meant something. The decision to remove FB COMPLETELY should have been made at the same time that they decided to disallow negative feedback for buyers.

"The feedback should be left for the buyer as soon as the seller receives payment or at least as soon as the item is shipped."
What if I don't want to leave feedback for return extortionists, scammers or illiterate idiots?

I agree with you but others will disagree.
I leave feedback for my buyers as soon as they do the one thing they are required to do ... pay.
This has been an on-going debate on the boards for years.

And that's the beauty of it being optional!
Each individual gets to choose for themselves when, if, and even how feedback is left.

Does the transaction include if the buyer paid promptly and then insisted on a partial refund not wanting to return the item back?
But yea, as everyone said, buyer feedback doesn't mean anything. Reminds me of this old SNL skit where an infomercial tells you to call in and pay money to be "APPROVED!" And they just send you a certificate or something with your name on it with an "APPROVED!" stamp.
"No background check necessary, no credit checks, no age/sex requirement. Be APPROVED! instantly"

Old habit, but I leave FB after they do. Back in the olden days, it was a way to know if they had received the item and were happy with it, back in the days before tracking was added.

No way. The way i do it is right. All other ways are wrong. 😉

A long time ago, and someone can correct me if wrong, but I believe that if a buyer left positive feedback, it was a huge decision maker in determining if a buyer won a case or not and would prevent a buyer from even filing a case...
at least I remember something like that, I may be way off.
Back when the playing field was somewhat level.
