It seems like every week there is a new bug in the system and ebay has no answers !

A couple months ago it was pictures being deleted after GTC listings were renewed. Of course, there was no way to get them back and sellers had to waste an inordinate amount of time either uploading them again or having to take new pictures.

This past week the transition to the new categories in clothing and accessories was a complete disaster.  Items were being placed in the wrong categories and if you changed it to the correct category, you lost items specifics.

Yesterday I noticed (and I can't say for sure if this was related to the category issue) that more pictures were deleted. Had many listings, all of which were variations, where only the gallery picture was displayed. All the variation pictures were deleted. Another wasted day of having to upload more pictures.

The best for last ! Just got off the phone with ebay and it seems like listings become corrupted after 6 months to a year. The standard response they give is that it's like making a photo copy. If you keep making a copy of the copy, it will lose resolution. Every time a listing gets relisted, there is a chance the file gets corrupted. I have many variation listings and the quantity I have available isn't being displayed correctly. In fact, it's a disaster. Case in point, item #302500345367. I have 7 shirts available. The listing shows I have 1 left, but the "sponsored" listing shows 7 available. How is it that the listing is corrupted, but the sponsored listing works fine ?

Their solution is not to relist the item, but to create a new listing from scratch. So now instead of running my business, I have to spend my time dealing with this all because ebay can't find engineers who know what they are doing.

I pay around 40K a year in fees and all I get in return is a big slap in the face.  Sorry, but an apology doesn't do me any good.  Time to start looking at other platforms.

Yuo have to understand that ebay IT staffers only know how to redesign pages - they don't know how to fix glitches or even prevent them from happening....

let me explain the problem a more detailed. I have tried two kind of listings (with UPCs and without UPCs). They are both losing images DUE TO the variation image setting automatically change to "by default photo" ONCE you edit your listing (even a simply update restock inventory will lead to this problem). In the past, they is locked due to ONE sales, you can't change the image setting, but starting from this week, you can change it. If you don't choose to change it, ebay will automatically help you to change it and make all the images gone if you revise the listing!! And you can't aviod it!

How can we report listings made from scratch when we can't MAKE multiple-variation listings from scratch right now (or using Sell Similar).

I gave up after three hours of serious effort (tried everything under the sun and then some) and was forced to abandon the listing. I have posted the error messages (and several of the problems) on the Technical Issues board.

I was able to do so using 3rd party listers. They are using APIs and technically not sell similar or relist functions.

bigdeals, what happens when you try to add a variation?

It's successful. What I do is create a listing with the 3rd party with only 1 variation combination... like say Black: Small. Then I go into ebay into the live listing and revise it by adding all the other variation combinations (Red, White, Blue, etc... Med, Large, XL, etc) and let it create all combinations automatically. I have to then manually enter in all the UPCs, the quantities, and prices, and respective photos. Submit and then I'm done.

I've been doing it this way for years. I could also just create all the variation combinations thru the 3rd party initially. But I've found it's slower for me to do that versus thru ebay.

However, there IS another glitch that I've noticed for like the last year to year and a half. Sometimes in the add variation/attribute/option section the "Create your own" link is gone. I found a work around to get that link back. PM me if you're interested. Don't wanna take this too far OT.

Still crickets about this huh. It's been almost a month and so far nothing has been done or announced about this at all. Did ebay think we would forget about this? These posts deserve to be bumped until ebay finally does something. This isn't your run of the mill insignificant glitch... it's REALLY killing my productivity.

Why are the blues still so silent after providing listings that are affected as per their request?

last I heard Tyler was OOO for a while.  brian@ebay  Additional item numbers were added to this report weeks ago, has any of this been passed on to the dev team?  There are still multiple reports of similar issues coming out.

PLEASE go to the Discussions > Inside eBay > Technical Issues board, find the threads on Multiple Variation Listing problems and add your voice.

eBay Customer Service is claiming no one has reported this problem. The more voices there are, the more difficult it will be for them to deny it.

This problem could have beem reported 50 million times and that is the standard answer from CSR.  We all know that Ebay never or until forced to, never admits to having any kind of problem, glitch or issue.  This is especially true if it is not costing Ebay revenue as those go to the top of the fix it list.

They changed my store subscription renewal date from May 1 to Sept 1. Called with proof and I was refunded extra month charge, but told no way to fix new renewal date. They just got 4 extra months Annual Premium subscription no matter how bad things get here. Accident? Bug? or...................

I continue to have this problem as well. It's a very time consuming bug to have since some of my listings have 10+ variations that all have different pictures.

The bug happens on listings with these attributes:

- GTC

- Multi-variation

- Variation Photo's set to anything other than "use default photos"

The bug occurs whenever variations are edited in any way without editing pictures and there have been no sales since the most recent renewal.

Again,
If you edit the quantity or pricing on a variation and don't change any pictures AND there hasn't been a sale since the last GTC renewal, the picture bug will happen EVERY time.

(The bug being that the picture setting automatically changes back to "use default photos" and drops all variation photos.)

When editing qty or pricing on variations you can avoid the bug by making ANY change to pictures in any way (adding, deleting,  or moving) which seems to "lock in" the variation photos. 

Variation photos also get "locked in" if there has been a sale since the last renewal.

This is a huge inconvenience having to remember to edit pictures on every listing when changing inventory quantities just to keep them all from being dropped.

This bug has been in the system for a least a year, however, it wasn't as big of a deal until recently. This is because previously on a multivariation listing a single sale would "lock in" all pictures on that listing forever (you could no longer change the "photos based on attribute" setting.) This meant that you only had to be aware of the bug when editing variations before the first sale occured on a listing and you would be in the clear from this bug after that.

However, in the last month or two ebay now allows you to change the "photos based on attribute" setting even after a sale has occured on a listing. This means the bug is always present until a sale happens *since the last renewal* and not since the beginning of the listing. In effect, the bug now occurs monthly with the GTC renewals making it a significantly bigger headache.
