Someone (100% Positive feedback (14), member since 2020) purchased an item I listed.
A few hours later, they asked to cancel the order (Cancellation reason: Order placed by mistake)
I am not sure if their payment went through.
Now I am looking at a breakdown of the refund:
Refund summaryTransaction details Transaction amount
Shipping | $17.65 |
Purchase price | $190.00 |
Fee creditsShow details | -$30.38 |
Will the refund cost me money?
Also, can I relist the item easily to give serious buyers a chance?
I am pretty upset about this and the waste of my time, but want to get out of it and do the right thing in the right time. I am suspecting they are trying to force me to send the item without having to pay for it.

Just cancel the sale with "buyer requests cancellation" - they get their money back, you get your fees back.
You can then simply relist.
Cancellation requests are really not uncommon.
That's all there is, unless I'm missing something (and could well be - right now I have too much blood in my caffeine system).

Is this a formal cancellation request or just a buyer asking in messages? Is/was there a button for you to accept the cancellation? If so and you clicked it, then there's nothing else needed for you to do in regards of the cancellation and refund.
Yes, it is a waste of time.

Hi,
There is a scam going on since some unsavory people know that ebay and amazon want sellers to rush and ship the items. The scammers have found out that they can place the order and wait a bit finding the order shipped but cancel the order because it was within a 24 hour period it will go through. So now they will get the item and a refund. It is best you change your shipping setting to ship 1 to 3 days after purchase no matter how much they urge you to ship now now now !!! - causing loads of stress and giving a fertile opportunity for the scammers. It's gotten real bad out there but somehow we as seller are supposed to maintain pristine feedback and performance levels but 15 % of the population are living a life of scamming, makes it impossible to do so.

The only thing you'll be out-of-pocket is the $.30 Transaction Fee. They may even be reversing those now... not sure.

Forgot to mention you can re list the item and ebay gives you the option to re list for free because the order was canceled. Don't rush or stress yourself trying to meet an unreasonable delivery schedule. After all we are not selling transplant organs.

Another piece of advise that has not been mentioned, ALL BUYERS WILL ALWAYS HAVE 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK. So don't fall prey to this, as sellers cannot give a neutral or negative feedback.

don't panic....the actual amount that is showing is what you "should/would" have received if the sale went through....(probably close to the amount processing)
ebay can't line item the refund of the fees....so it looks like you are being charged..
the only amount you will be 'out' when all is said and done is the .30 transaction fee.....
(they can't refund the non-cash portion of the payment...(the fees)) in cash...it is a separate inclusion/line item)

Is this the very first time this has happened to you as a seller?
Why would you suspect the buyer is trying to force you to send the item without having to pay for it? How would requesting cancellation accomplish that for the buyer?

Last 2 cancels that I had (both this month) the $0.30 transaction fee was cleared along with the rest of the fee.
These were both "buyer requested".

Asked to cancel.
Item not shipped.
REFUNDING PAID
$177.27 $17.65
S30.38 $190.00
$207.65 $207.65
I do not see fraud.

buyers on ebay cant cancel an order, it has nothing to do with 24 hours
buyers on ebay can only request to cancel and item
sellers on ebay are not going to cancel an item if they have already shipped it

I need a new sense of humor.
The one I have now is faulty.
It always gets me in trouble.
